Well with the exception of Dr Who, and maybe Red Dwarf, most British series dont go more then 2 seasons (err series) anyway.
How long can you spread out the basic premise of the show anyway? Robin comes home, gets exliled and brings together a Band of Merry men, defeats the Sherrif and his lackies and wins the girl.
If you dont start introducing main characters like Friar Tuck and the others in a more active capacity soon, people will quickly get bored. They also need to move the overall story along.
I hope it lasts more then a single series, i dont see it lasting more then 3.
