Robin Hood 1x03 "Who Shot The Sheriff?"

What is Sampson and Son? Do you mean Sanford & Son, the series about the junkyard owner starring Redd Foxx? If so that has nothing to do with Blackadder, although it was based on a British series, the title of which escapes me at the moment.

Steptoe and Son?

You're right, utterly, utterly different to Blackadder.

We are so lucky in New Zealand we get the best (and worst) of the UK, the USA, Australia and occasionally Canada. But I must ask is this a new series of Robin Hood above or the old(ish) one?

Anyway
Is Sanford & Son based on Steptoe - I've never heard of Sanford.

All in the Family is based on Til Death Do Us Part (Alf Garnet = Archie Bunker)
Three's Company based on Man About the House and even the spinoffs were copied
The Ropers based on George and Mildred

Antiques Roadshow is another copy

I can't beleive that the Americano's would try and redo Red Dwarf - thats just ridiculous, just like an American version of Bob the Builder:).

And did anything come of the suggestion of doing an American version of Kath and Kim (its Australian but fits the theme)

It is a brand new 13 part series. It was filmed in eastern Europe earlier this year and stars mostly new faces as well as a couple better known actors (primarily Keith Allen who plays the Sheriff).

The older one you're thinking of is likely Robin of Sherwood that starred Micheal Praed/Jason Connery as Robin, and featured a much stronger pagan/supernatural theme than this show (thus far) does.

All in the Family was indeed based on a British series, though I can't recall the title of that either. Three's Company was also based on a British series, as was The Office, and there was an abortive American attempt to duplicate Coupling. Let's not even think about the abyssmal effort to produce an American version of Red Dwarf.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some others.

Yes thank you, Sanford and Son. Its been a long long time since that particilar class. I decided to focus on editing and not media history :-p
