Ahem.

Dungeon #95/Polyhedron #154 will include the MECHA CRUSADE d20 Mini-Game, 50-some pages of pulse-pounding mechanized action. It's not Robotech, but it'll probably give you the rules basics you need to play any anime-inspired mecha campaign.

Big fun and explosions hit newsstands on the 15th of October.

Don't forget Dream Pod 9, which is not a bad system at all.

Heavy Gear, yeah just like the video game, NOT the TV Cartoon.
Jovian Chronicles (Space, before DragonStar), Tribe 8 (not sure if there is Mecha in this one).
Gear Kreig. WWII with walking tanks, guess it could be like Ring of Red for PS2.
Core Command. This one isn't out yet, but it's coming soon.

before i forget, no it's not d20.

If you were...

Hey guys, if you were going to do a Robotech D20 game how, would you do classes? Or would you go CoC and do the Classless thing? Has anyone played a CoC campaign to see how that actually works?

I was thinking that you could do either classes like scout, soldier, mecha operator, technician, scoundrel, civillian, etc; or you could do what they did in that Dung/Poly article and do classes based off of a main stat, Strength, Dex, etc.

What do you think?

I don't think the Mecha rules would be that hard to simulate if you just treat the person/mecha as a normal person, ie the mecha can move and single attack type, or do the full action (multiple attacks/complex actions) and do a *equivalent* 5' step for a 40 foot tall mecha.

Of course, there should be the option for a pilot to put it "into motion" not controlling the mecha so much as concentrating on firing its weapons. This could be done by allowing its pilot a skill check at a higher difficulty...or have multiple peopl in the vehicle!

Just some thoughts.

I think d20 Modern would work perfectly for a mecha game. I sat in on the d20 Modern seminar at GenCon and I'm basically sold on it. With the right setting/add-on rules d20 Modern shoould be able to handle just about any genre.

From what the WotC crew said in the seminar, there are more than 30 companies working on suppliments for d20 Modern right now that should be released the day after d20 Modern hits the shelves. I'd be willing to bet one of those suplpiments is a mecha-based setting.

If I can insert an Escaflowne elements into my D&D game, then I'm content.

OFF-TOPIC

Speaking of Gundam, does anyone have a list of all of the episode of this anime series in chronological viewing order?

Is there like a web page or a video companion book?
