Role call: Who's doing new systems?

I'm not building any sort of new game, but I do find myself constantly trying to figure out how to pull what I like out of different systems and bring them together in a cohesive whole. My favorite book remains unearthed arcanna for a reason.

Yeah I'm doing this at the moment. Basically, I'm starting with 3.5 and:
- adding stuff from the Complete * books
- adding stuff from Unearthed Arcana
- adding stuff from the PHBII
- stealing a few ideas from Iron Heroes and Conan
- simplifying the skill system à la 4.0 (less skills, no "ranks" per se)
- tinkering with weapons and armor
- planning on removing multiclassing (no need, IMO, with the 22 base classes I'll be using)
- trying to implement ritual rules (again, à la 4.0, but greatly expanding the ritual list)

Of course, there's a big risk here: You _must_ play the game. The original 3E design team remarked a few times (for example, Monte Cook) that they were surprised to learn that many TSR designers didn't actually play that much, and that this was not an uncommon attitude among designers at that time.
Not only that, but you must get someone else to play your game. You need to have another person read your rules to make sure that they're understandable to everyone else - something that's obvious to you may not be to your friend Joe Gamer. Likewise, other people are really good at finding combos and loopholes that you simply don't see because you're too familiar with the material. That's why I'm trying so hard to get some visibility for Project Phoenix.

Yes! Dear God, yes! I've picked up dozens of small press games only to find them totally incomprehnsible due to the author's assumption that Joe Consumers will have the same level of familiarity with the systems as he (i.e., the author) does and, thus, not require explanations of what basic traits represent, how die rolls are made, etc.

I'm working on a hack of Microlite 20 which is a minimized hack of D&D.

My hack I'm calling W6 and the designed goals are to have a hyper-minimized system that has no stats and no classes that only needs D6s to play but who's characters could be played side by side with D&D and SW SAGA characters so that you can used premade adventures without modification...and don't need to because it's so simple. I'm still trying to decide where to benchmark the hit points and stats but it already being playtested.

I'm slowly modding d20 Modern into something I'd actually enjoy playing and running. Lots of influences and ideas but not enough time to finish it until about New Year.
