Role Playing products that failed

Let's not forget the Book of Vile Chipmunks. Alvin, Simon, and Theo-gore.... :p

True30 didn't seem to go over well, though the sale of 30-siders and green M&Ms went up. Unfortunately, there were some legal issues. However, Attorney d20 Adventure Roleplaying sold quite well during this period.

Monte Cook Presents: Monte Cook's Pink Fluffy Bunny Slippers was a low point for Malhavoc Press (with all apologies to Monte Cook :) ), though many fanboys and geek girls can be seen walking through convention halls with the trademark slippers.

Waiting for Godot, the game.

Play such exciting characters as tramps, land owners, or servants. Hours upon hours of exciting, tragic, introspective roleplaying in a detailed and realistic setting! Extensive rules for all kinds of action from loitering, speculation, random afflictions, and sleeping in barns!
The d20 version had surprisingly detailed expansion rules for Rope Use, including rules for using improvised objects as ropes.

The Godot Monster Manual was also a flop. Do we really need to know how many hit dice Ennui has, or how often Despair can use its breath weapon? Plus the whole book was filled with typos and miscalculations, some say inevitably.

Harvey Comics, the LARP/RPG.

WoD: Suburbia (or maybe not.)

Kid's Show: The Collectible Card Strategy Game
Right. I tap two Cereal Sponsors and a Hip Toy, and Cap't Wallaby gains 5 market share.

Not so fast. I tap a Media Hype, and destroy your Hip Toy with Only A Fad.

Andre the Giant? :uhoh:
No, but one of the actors/characters was Wally Shawn who was in the Princess Bride with Andre the Giant. He was also in Starting Over with Kevin Bacon. Which makes Andre the Giant 2 degrees from Kevin Bacon.

P.S. Andre the Giant has a posse.

The Politically Correct Bland Dwarves & Elves, d20 supplement: Traditional neo-dungeon-punk illustrations all the way. All new spells and prestige classes are underpowered to not aggravate balance-inclined customers. He/She and His/Her are used throughout the whole book to describe characters and their actions. Demons and Devils are not featured, and deities/religions are replaced with "personnal convictions". All corridors and tunnels on the maps are 10 feet wide.

Zork: Beyond the Screen

O.M.G.

You have NO IDEA how fast I would buy a Zork RPG. Especially if you had to make a DC check everytime you did anything, to see if the GM could understand what it was you were trying to do. Some actions are easier for the GM to process than others, of course. :]

Zork: Beyond the Screen

GM: "you come to a fork in the dungeon. Exits are north, south, and west."

Player: "West!"

GM: "You enter what must be a kitchen. There is a oven in one corner, with a fire blazing inside of it, and a large table. Working over the oven is a beautiful, scantly clad woman. Exits are East"

Player: "Seduce Woman"

GM: "I don't understand that command"

Player: "#!&@ woman"

GM: "I don't understand that command"

Player: "#!&@ you!"

GM: "I don't understand that command"

Close. Zork DID in fact understand the f word. It's response: "Such language in a high class establishment like this!"

Interestingly, in the phrase "F--- you" Zork comes back with "I don't know the word you."

:D

The Office Space d20 RPG

Featuring a variety of challenging and interesting classes to play, including Boss (NPC), Disgruntled Co-Worker, Extremely Disgruntled Co-Worker (prestige class), Foreign Laborer, Secretary, White Trash Neighbor, Hot Waitress, and Milton.

Includes fully detailed rules on using skills like Hide and Move Silently in the office plus expanded uses for existing skills such as Bluff: Calling in Sick and Sleight of Hand: Stapler. Also includes complete statistics for evil villains and monsters such as printer/faxes, cheating ex-girlfriend, and cornhole hunter.

Sadly, the lack of any statistics or detail on the proper use of TPS reports made this release a flop.
