Roll Call: calling all Australian Enworld members

I knew I should have moved to Melbourne when I had the chance! I'm 34 and been playing (read DMing) since 1989. Hopefully someone out there in Sydney is looking for a new player. I am hoping to jump into one of those long term campaigns. Run several in my time but never played in any. Guess I also hold the honour of never having a character of mine die!

Chalk up another from Melbourne. Currently playing in a RuneQuest game (heavily modified v3 rules) and running a Midnight d20 campaign (v3.5). In the past have played and/or ran many game systems. And since someone asked, I'm 41 and have been role-playing since 1981 .... (Originally I was from Newcastle, but moved to Melbourne in 1989.)

Um, sorry, single vote for Canberra here. At least I'm closer to you than Melbourne.

Oh, can we call you Bruce? 'Saves a lot of confusion.

Cheers, Al'Kelhar

Heya

Sydney gamer for over 20 years. Used to do the convention scene a lot and now just happy with a few Living Games and playing in a fortnightly 3.5 D&D. Living in beautiful Cremorne. Being a working and studying sod doesn't give a lot of time for much more I'm afraid.

Cheers

Sydneysider, originally Melburnian, using all the terrible-sounding local names he can think of - oh! I was a Healesvillager in between Melbourne and Sydney!

I live on the North Shore in Sydney and currently play in a d20 Wheel of Time game (which is great, with no thanks to Robert "Hack" Jordan), and Hong's crazy Oriental Adventures Ultima adaptation.

If you're looking for a game in the Sydney area, Hannibal, you can do worse than check out the forums of the University of Sydney's gaming & geek culture group - SUTEKH. No, it doesn't stand for anything, the original founders of the science fiction club which merged with the wargamers were massive Doctor Who geeks. These days we've got people playing Dungeons & Dragons, other d20 games, 7th Sea, GURPS, the new World of Darkness, the new Legend of the Five Rings, et cetera, with pretty regular Friday night pizza-and-games action (mostly board and card games and one-shot freeforms on Fridays, though). Drop in on the forum and say hi.

You could also check out MURPS at Macquarie University and UNSW Gamers at, shock horror, UNSW - but beware! Those freaks over there at UNSW are viciously segregated from their geek culture brethren in SpockSoc, a crime against efficient social organisation we clearly abhor over here in safe, clean Sydney University-land.

Hi Hannibal King,

Chalk another one up for Sydney. :)
Not wanting to start a Sydney/Melbourne thing but really... you'd want to move down to Melbourne
[Hose]I should most likely stop now before a flame war starts up ;) [/Hose]

Anyway, we play every fortnight at Baulkam Hills which is all but the smell of a sparrows fart away from Parramatta as you most probably well know. In fact, half the group travel from much further afield than you!
We have 6 DMs and one player with 5 games currently playing so as you can imagine, we barely have enough time to get too much done. Your age of 34 would put you under the median of our group - 32, 34, 35, 36, 38, 40 and 55!!! While I can't promise anything, we are currently in the process of testing a module that some of us are collaborating upon. It might be cool to do a few things here or there with that and see what happens?

Our primary campaign is run by an expat kiwi and you can read about it in my sig if you want a feel for how we play - the first part mainly, as I took a tangent half way through to finish off the background for Lucifus (my character) before heading back to the main action.
Post back here or on the story hour thread if you like what you read. I'll send you an email anyway.

Anyway, it's good to have an Australian thread happening.

Best Regards
Herremann the Wise

Am I the only Tasmanian?

I live in Hobart and the biggest challenge for my group is trying to play more than once a month with one player working retail, one player in hospitality (chef) and the DM (me) also a chef.
