That was the wost title game we've had so far and even before that it was a farce of a game. BCS just continues to prove that it is the wrong thing for college football.

Exactly. It was battle of the inept offenses as much as battle of the good defenses. Oregon, Wisconsin, Stanford or Oklahoma State would have at least been interesting as those teams can actually run AND pass the ball.

No, it was top heavy. According to computer rankings Big 12 was the strongest league this year. SEC has the reputation and the talking heads promote that over anything else. You can tell when the "eye test" is the best evidence they can provide. And LSU couldn't shut down bama, what would make anyone think they could shut down a real offense?

Southeastern Conference (6-3)
Big 12 Conference (6-2)
Conference USA (4-1)
Mid-American Conference (4-1)
Big East Conference (3-2)
Big 10 Conference (4-6)
Mountain West Conference (2-3)
Pac 12 Conference (2-5)
Atlantic Coast Conference (2-6)
Sun Belt Conference (1-2)
Western Athletic Conference (0-3)

SEC had to drop one bowl because of Bama and LSU - while I would have liked to see more games between the Big-12 and SEC, I am happy...GO GAMECOCKS!!! A real defense shutting down a real offense. ;)

Note: I can say that because Gamecocks winning is like the Spanish Inquisition...no one expects it! Bring out the comfy chair!

I think everyone was expecting the Gamecocks to win, they were favored in that game. Bowl records show something but it needs to somehow factor in how many of those wins were favored as it's all about the match ups.

I just heard from a relative of mine in New Orleans: today, the LSU Tigers got all the way to the Tide's 18 yard line but were unable to convert on 4th & 1. ;)
