RotK teaser posters

I'm not saying its not going to be in, but I heard that the last scene of RoTK takes place in the Grey Havens. I know the scorging of the Shire is not in. But it woulf be cool if they show the hobbit's back at the shire and everything different.
I completely disagree. I've always felt the the Scouring of the Shire was an example of Tolkien's cynicism winning out over his storytelling.

It always seemed to me that the Scouring undermines the point of the whole story. Frodo and Sam (particularly Sam) didn't do what they did for anything as grand as "the whole world." They were fighting to protect something very specific, the Shire and their way of life. To have them go through what they did and show up to see the Shire as it was in the books... well, it makes it seem that what they were fighting for was not nearly so great as they thought. Which is not to say that the Shire should have been untouched. I think it should have felt some of the ravages of war, and that the hobbits there should have had some small measure of the pluck and resourcefulness that the 4 boys showed. Or at least enough to keep from being overrun. And the 4 boys could have simply helped rebuild rather than having to remind everyone what was so great about life in the Shire. Having someone other than the 4 heroes willing to fight would have upheld notions of "things worth fighting for" which I often think the book failed to do.

I also think in terms of pacing, if you put in scourging of the shire in after the descrution of the ring and the big battles won, it would be anti climatic.

The Scourging of the Shire is not in. Peter Jackson admitted that right from the start of filming. Presumably the ending of the film will still be excellent - I mean, it's not like he's made a real hash of anything so far, is it? :)
