Hmm... Maybe you should make seperate polls for the type of mass combat system, the poll is also tinted by the preference of the user for a certain type of mass combat system.

Tabletop or chart based.

Indeed, though I'd call them "Tabletop/Miniatures or Abstract/Chart-Based".

I really don't like Cry Havoc for either. Its abstract system is definitely interesting, but unfortunately the way it calculates the commander rating for an army is very bad - it basically boils down to "the biggest army has the best commander". :(

The less said about the complexity of its tabletop rules the better. (The MHb does an excellent job of making them simple, quick and effective, but the 1:1 scale makes them not suitable for very large encounters, like the Battle of Neraka).

Cheers!

A couple of these I don't recognize.

Is this one part of the Grim and Gritty rules:
Wulf's - Slavelords of Cydonia

And is this actually, you know, Chess? :)
Jester47's - Chess

Or is that an acronym or something?

Another vote for Eden's Fields of Blood.

In second place, I found Mongoose's OMCS(2) to be quite adequate. Malhavoc's Cry Havoc falls into third.
