Round IV is OVER

Craft Staff is really sweet if you are actually a decent caster because it lets you use your own DCs and Caster Level

Oh I agree that Staves can rock the casbah for a higher level caster, without a doubt.

I just don't feel it necessitates two seperate feats, one for wands, one for staffs, that's all. It'd be like having Craft Magical Weapons and Craft Magical Armor being seperate feats.

It'd be more like...I dunno...having Wondrous Items and Rings in different feats...

Players in my campaign don't make magic items and they don't buy them (there is no "Ye old Magic Shoppe").

They find magic items, and seldom at that, during the adventure as treasure.

So making magic items is pushing it. A PC making their own Potions and scrolls is barely tolerable to me. I draw the line there; that far, no further.

Call me old fashioned *shrug*
You're old fashioned. :p

I just fail to follow the logic where the high level wizard type has to find a magical gee-gaw of power made by some other high level wizard type, but it utterly incapable of making his own personal one himself. PCs can leave no item legacy, they have to find and tote someone else's.

Heh, I'm generally of the oppinion that Wonderous Item can get a bit crazy with how broad a scope it can cover, myself. Wouldn't hurt it to have a footnote saying that if a particular item would be covered by another item creation feat, to use that requirement instead. If you want to make a crystal that has 50 charges of Cure Light Wounds, use Craft Wand instead of Craft Wonderous Item. That sort of thing.

No, its fair to allow a 50 charged wondrous item because it costs much more than the wand. But, one should require the Forge Ring feat to allow wondrous item creation that duplicates ring effects (i.e. no cloak of deflection to AC if you don't have Craft Ring).

Light Armour Proficiency, go away. Anyone who can't be bothered to buy a Mithril Chain Shirt (which eliminates all nonproficiency penalties) or take levels to get this for free is a silly person.

What he says.

Allow me to admit my ignorance here, but uh... it does? I must've missed something - I was operating under the assuption that they cost the same ammount.

50 charges, spell trigger. Spell Level x Caster level x 750g.

As far as I know, you're not allowed to just do that...if you want a charged wondrous item, you have to pay SL*CL*1000 for 50 charges (admittedly not spell-trigger, but if you crafted it yourself, you definitely have the trigger)

Please take LEADERSHIP off of this silly list.

...and I promise to respect anyone else who votes leadership off...for a little bit.

...well maybe

...perhaps

Well, I'll respect your decision anyhow.

Armor Prof-light

As many have pointed out before and in this thread you only need this proficiency to wear non masterwork studded leather or chainshirt. In most campaigns getting a hold of Mithral Chain isnt that hard and its not very expensive either.
