Roundabout - Getting Started

"Is there anything else that you would like to know? Or, can I plan to see you all back here in 10 days time?", Golkan asks the group.

OOC: Just where are we (town-wise)? I don't recall reading that anywhere.

Feeling acutely ignorant, Jon looks around at the others. When he sees that they are not immediately asking some of the questions that occur to him, he self-consciously clears his throat and speaks up.

Ahem. "Yes, sir. I have question or two.

I've not been that far south of here in a long time, is there anything in particular I should be aware of and prepare for?"

Then, "Are we to furnish our own transportation, or travel with a merchant group?"

OOC: You are all in Virokon, sorry about that. Far east Kinrisar.

Golkan responds to Jondalor's questions while helping himself to more of the fish stew. "The Juman valley is a high valley in the Bitroot Mountains south of the city. It is easily entered since there are no high passes to cross to get there. The method of your getting there is up to you. No caravans travel there on a regular basis because it is about two days outside of the normal patrols of the local military. You will be able to find caravan rest stops along the way to use for camps though. That will make the trip much easier."

Golkan takes a bit or two of the steaming stew and clearly enjoys it. A long draught of wine follows and he continues, "As far as what to prepare for, I don't really know what to tell you. I am a city person, not a wilderness person. They are wild lands out there. That is why my partner goes there to trap. He is far more rugged than I for sure."

After a few moments of silence Golkan adds, "His camp in the valley is a simple lean to shack beside a small lake. The valley is free of trees in the base so it should be easy to spot. Forests cover the walls of the valley. He described all of this to me so I could recognize it if I ever came." The last part he says with an smirk. "I've never been."

"Oh," he adds. "Gralnak is a half-orc. Dont' be frightened by his appearance. Just let him know that you are sent by me and give him the message. He will help you any way he can I am sure."

Golkan looks around the table to each of you in turn. "So, do we have a deal?"

Struggling to make the necessary mental calculations, Jon mutters "200 Eagles divided 6 ways for 8 days travel. Hmm."

4 Eagles a day. Pretty good pay. Eh. What the heck. I got nothing better to do, I might even have fun.

"Ok. Count me in."

"Unfortunately, I cannot commit to such a period of time. I have responsibilities here in Virokon with my service to The Hunter."

Ras clearly looks disappointed during his talk. A trip into the wilderness is something that he would enjoy.

"So, Jondalor is in. Respected Ras Famoon, I am sorry to hear that you cannot be available. I am sure that your skills would be valuable. A servant of The Hunter must be useful in this kind of mission."

Golkan looks to each of the others. "Is anyone else interested?"

All of you see a a figure, roughly as tall as he is wide, stumble in. "Did sumun say somethin about being paid?" he mutters. The most distiguishing feature is his long unbraided beard, which nearly reaches his knee. He hands seem to subconciously caress the haft of the finely crafted waraxe. The smell of strong ale seems to waft off the tattooed dwarf as he glares at everyone, a look of distaste spreading across his face. "Can i git an advance now?" he almost yells.

OOC: sorry for the delay, had finals week at school and then computer problems when I came back home, everything should work out tomorrow though. . .

Muriel doesnt even try to hide her grin and slight chuckle when the dwarf stumbles in. But she doesnt seem to be interested in him, she surveys the room and thinks to herself <Fine company indeed, its a shame that other fellow cant make it, he seemed like a good companion. Now that hobgoblin. . . . bastards all of them. This Golkan fellow better know what hes getting into dealing with their kind. All of those lies about "servise to the king" and whatnot? Bah! No worries, I will kill him sooner or later, but not until his weak mind has been controled by me first, damn my small size.> (OOC: no real hard feelings Anton, just bad luck, or my stupidity, that the race I picked to be prejudice against was played by you, should be fun though) She seems to be deep in thought but then regains her compusure and reaches across the table to get more food. Between bites, she says, "Hey Golkon? So would it be possible to get more money, for traveling expenses or something? A girl's gotta eat ya know."
