Royal Society of Mythology
A Savage Worlds Modern Arcana Mini-Setting
Written by James Laird Davenport
Art by Dean Spencer, Jacob E. Blackmon/Rogue Genius Games, Jeremy Hart, Indi Martin/Tortoise & Hare Creations, Rick Hershey/Fat Goblin Games, Kabouter Games, Gary Dupuis/Purple Duck Games, Gray Moth, Ramon Lucha, and JE Shields
The world's myths never died. They just went underground.
Dragons. Faerie trees. Fountains of youth.
Miraculous plants. Monsters in the dark.
Every culture tells stories of things that couldn't possibly exist—creatures and relics so powerful they were woven into legend. Most people dismiss these tales as superstition or metaphor. But the Royal Society of Mythology knows better.
And so do its rivals.
Welcome to Modern Arcana
Royal Society of Mythology is a 34-page PDF mini-setting for Savage Worlds Adventure Edition, packed with mythic intrigue, shadowy factions, and globe-spanning action. You play agents of a secret society dedicated to uncovering the truth behind the world's folklore—and keeping that truth out of the wrong hands.
One week you're navigating jungle ruins. The next, you're bidding on dragon teeth at a black-market auction in Istanbul. Then it's off to Iceland to negotiate with a very real and very territorial troll.
You're a myth-hunter, a field scholar, and sometimes, a reluctant monster-slayer. And the world is bigger and weirder than anyone ever imagined.
Hunt the Myths. Bring Back Proof.
At the heart of Royal Society of Mythology are Myth Hunts—dangerous, globe-spanning missions where agents track down legendary creatures, arcane plants, and magical artifacts. You'll face ancient guardians, rival factions, and moral dilemmas as you uncover long-lost secrets buried beneath centuries of lies and protective spells.
Each Myth Hunt is part expedition, part investigation, part survival story:
Do you extract the creature—or protect it?
Will you share your findings—or bury them?
And who's already there with a private security team and a stolen RSM badge?
The Competition Is Fierce (and Occasionally Flirty)
The Royal Society isn't alone out there. Several other organizations are in play—some harmless, some hostile, and some waiting to pull the classic Belloq Maneuver (named for the iconic betrayal in Raiders of the Lost Ark).
