RPG Crowdfunding News – Gary Gygax’s The Hermit, Mythic Bastionland, Tiny Cyberpunk, and more

  • END DATE: Fri, December 8 2023 11:00 PM EST.
  • SYSTEM(S): Castles & Crusades’ Siege Engine
  • PROJECT TYPE: Adventure
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $40 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the book and double-sided poster map
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? The Hermit is an adventure for characters levels 7 to 10. Here’s a note from EN World’s 2004 coverage of the original release: “Written by Gary Gygax for the d20 and Lejendary Adventure Game systems,” this campaign will update the work to Troll Lord’s C&C. Gary Gygax’s words and the system update are brought to tabletop through Troll Lord Games in conjunction with Luke Gygax. As to the plot, a king’s advisor is missing and you’re tasked with tracking them through the mountains. If an adventure by Gary Gygax interests you, this project is worth checking out.

  • SYSTEM(S): Into The Odd
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: £50 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the book
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Set in the past of Into the Odd and Electric Bastionland, Chris McDowall’s other TTRPGs, this project combines dreamlike expectations with sword and sorcery to create something unexpected. You are one of 72 knights, nobles who gain glory and position by manifesting Myths into the world so your knight might slay them. Your goal, to reach the point where you might begin the hunt for The City, the ultimate dream. With rules for hex-crawls, domain management, mass combat, and more, this rulebook promises an original setting supported by a rules lite system. If you’re interested in this beautifully illustrated, atmospheric project, check out the campaign page for a free 74-page quickstart PDF.

  • SYSTEM(S): TinyD6
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $10 for the PDF of the rulesbook
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Who needs more cyberpunk and more TinyD6? Despite the name, the engine is more than capable of supporting great cyberpunk games. This campaign offers the core book with 80 pages of rules, setting, NPCs, and more. Create cyberpunks, take jobs in the city of Neodinium, and takedown the corps. This book gives you the gangs, territories, and corps you’ll have to work with and/or face off against. If you back at the physical level, Gallant Knight Games is offering the Tiny Dungeon 2e hardcover as an add-on for $10. That’s an amazing price point, and only offered through this campaign. If you need neon, chrome, and the TinyD6 system, this campaign is on offer for a limited time.

Star Crossed- Love Letters.png

Star Crossed: Love Letters from Bully Pulpit Games
  • END DATE: Dec 7, 2023 at 8:00am EST.
  • CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
  • SYSTEM(S): Star Crossed (a Powered by Jenga Tower TTRPG)
  • PROJECT TYPE: Sourcebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $15 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the book
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Star Crossed is a duet, a two-player TTRPG in which you play characters that are in love, but can’t act on those feelings. As your characters increase their attraction towards each other, they pull bricks from a Jenga Tower. When the tower falls, the lovers give into their emotions. This sourcebook provides settings, characters, and more for the core game. But what this book really offers are alternate rules, options to go beyond the original limitations of the game. What if you’re playing online? What if there are more than two of you? What if you don’t have a Jenga Tower because your hand-eye coordination is that of a toddler (which mine is)? This book gives you options to play this game in new and exciting ways. If you’re a fan of Star Crossed or just interested in a duet to play with your beloved, this Backerkit awaits.

Written as a travel guide, the book offers in-depth information, reviewer impressions, maps, NPCs, and adventure hooks. The maps are of the taverns with additional maps for their neighborhoods. One of the best sounding options is the key events and activities, so your character knows if it’s trivia night or half price plot hook Sunday. If you need 5e inns to drop into your campaign, this book may be right for your gaming table.

  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $35 + S/H for the physical copies of the game (both books and cards)

These raccoons can talk, wear clothes, and carry items. The world is open to whatever setting you want to build using either their system of location cards or your imagination. These raccoons are on quests for only the most important trash, the best rubbish, the prime castoffs from a world of humans. Standing in your way are those same humans, coyotes, and other obstacles. If you need more trash and raccoons at your gaming table, this is for you.

You’re a part of the bad guy organization, but only because they have their boot on your neck. As you make your way through the setting and missions, you’ll gain powers as you perform over-the-top stunts in this action movie homage. Using an original system, you’ll get all the tools you need to win for the family, take control of the organization, and decide its future.

Alternate rules for Jenga tower games played online intrigues me. I just got The Job, which uses a dice tower to simulate tension in a heist game, but I'd love to play it online, if I could figure out how.

Have you been to LevelUp5E.com yet?
Yeah? I've counted a dozen typos on the Kickstarter page which is usually where I tap out on a project (sloppy presentation --> sloppy book). Weird pledge levels too—is the only difference for Ma Zaan, Tyranos, Naern, and Jinos the progressively larger number of additional PDFs? Seems like those ought to be add-ons, especially if this thing is 3 weeks in and nobody has picked them yet. Read the room amirite?
Between the typos and general plan I'm skeptical, but good on them for making it so far on a system agnostic book.

Yeah? I've counted a dozen typos on the Kickstarter page which is usually where I tap out on a project (sloppy presentation --> sloppy book).
you found a lot more than me then…

Weird pledge levels too—is the only difference for Ma Zaan, Tyranos, Naern, and Jinos the progressively larger number of additional PDFs?
no, it is a progressively larger number of printed books, you already get all PDFs at the Voth level

Seems like those ought to be add-ons, especially if this thing is 3 weeks in and nobody has picked them yet. Read the room amirite?
PDFs, softcover and hardcover are available as addons, those tiers just give you a better bundle price.

Maybe focus on the content instead of trying so hard to find typos that you miss most of the information…
