A Kingdom’s Edge delves into the sighting of an apparition, the ghost of a hero that the kingdom would like recovered. If you need two 5e adventures inspired by the visuals you’ll get with this purchase, check out the campaign page to see more of the art.

Angel's Bacchanalia- Holiday Feasts & Celebrations for D&D.jpg

Angel's Bacchanalia: Holiday Feasts & Celebrations for D&D from EN Publishing
  • END DATE: Mon, November 28 2022 6:00 PM EST.

  • PROJECT TYPE: Adventure
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: £7 for the PDF of the book

  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Just in time for the holiday season, a “hedonistic solstice adventure” from the fine folks at EN Publishing! Morrus and company are offering a feast with mythical meals, fantasy drinks, and the component that makes me the most curious: gastronomical spells. The adventure has a great hook with an angel in your midst offering forgiveness for all sins, so many folks are committing all of the sins as their offenses will be expunged. Then there are recipes for magical dishes using monsters as ingredients. Plus optional rules for aging, traditions, and more. But the pièce de résistance are the dozen gastronomical spells. Ranging from boil to hunter's moon pie to scouring song to dragon hunter's feast, I’m eager to see how these spells work. Check out the campaign page to learn more.

Wow.

I wasn't expecting for Palladium to ever go back to Kickstarter after Robotech Tactics and the monumental way they screwed over their backers there.

Surprised people are backing this. Then again, if you're a Palladium fan I guess seeing the company mismanaged is a pretty normal thing, so idk.

"Rifts®", please!

I guess its fans (the few surviving ones) are loyal and the project isn't (mis)managed by Kevin Siembieda himself, but by a new creative director who firstly became involved with Palladium through Savage Rifts®. Savage Rifts® has (rightly) got some good fame, so that helps too.

Also also, in-house books are a lot easier to produce than multi-component miniature games for a licensed franchise, even more so when the publisher in question is a book-printing decades-old publisher (even a "discussed" publisher like Palladium Books).

Also also also, there are a lot of reprints in this KS, which could bump up the backing.

So many things over the years about Palladium surprise me. Them going back to KS after their supreme flameout definitively counts in that category.

I do wonder if Kevin can keep his hands off the product; if this is all in-house from what I gather that's a tough thing for him to do.

It's like there is a demon on his shoulder telling him to rewrite every manuscript just enough to put his name as the primary author and then lay out the book manually in a two column format like it's 1940.

Everyone publishing setting and lore books about their own culture's myth and legends is my favorite part of this era of RPGs. More, please, from everyone.

Wasn't the Robotech Tactics KS more Ninja Division's fault than Palladium?
That's what Ken would like us believe, in his remarkable "not a single thing was ever my fault and I'm the victim here yet again" bus-throwing post that was such a long kvetch that it took two separate KS update posts due to its length.

Now, quite possibly there were errors all around that compounded, but when looking at Palladium's own fraught production history and the reactions of those who have been burned by him (as @eyeheartawk alludes to above) it casts even more doubt on the veracity of what was said in those KS updates.

“It’s probably Matt Mercer’s fault.”
I just downloaded and skimmed the free players' guide to Beyond Corny Gron. It's really quite appealing. The one thing that turned me off a bit is that I'm not a big fan of rolling on tables to determine things (background, dress, traits, etc.) about my character, and a lot of the document was taken up with that. However it is useful for skimming and generating ideas.

Things I loved:
  1. The artwork! Not standard fantasy fair, but delightfully done and a refreshing change.
  2. The summaries of various factions. No in-depth history, just a few paragraphs of description and a summary of their goals.
  3. The descriptions of common monsters. I'm thinking about this in the light of a current thread (and an infinity of past ones) debating how much new characters would know about monsters. I love that this section (and really this guide) is a concise and readable "here is what your character would know about this world".
  4. Overall the authors managed to escape the trap that so many RPG authors seem to fall into, which is (apparently) to fall in love with their own ideas and writing and just drone on and on and on for pages and pages and pages, so that as a reader I can't ever see the forest for the trees. Even with a relatively quick skim I have a nice image in my head for what this setting is like.

I'm thinking about backing this because I might be able to use a lot of it for a campaign I've been thinking about starting.

UPDATE: It's only 10 Euros for the PDF! Backed!
