I think I've figured out a nice little trick. I looked at the risk/return per unit, and it looks to me that fighting the dragon is the best bet for me. Sure, I can defeat the death knight easily enough, but the dragon is more valuable, relatively speaking.

Consider: Each time you attack, you get 1 to 5% of experience. Doesn't matter if you're fighting the fluffy bunny or the balrog. That means each attack gets you an average of 3% of experience.

I can defeat the dragon, most times, in one strike. That's 500gp per attack.

With the death knight, it's generally three attacks, for a reward of 700gp (233gp per attack).

If I want to make sure I'm properly equipped by the time I get to 70th level (I'm almost 50th), I'm going to have to maximize my risk/return per unit.

Anyone interested in buying some old equipment? I have a short sword of Foresight, and a greatsword and a unicorn of Giant's Strength... That's about 5900 of equipment and 24,000 of enchantment.

Combined, they give +325 STR and +205 DEF.

I'm willing to part with them for 15,000.

Wasn't suggesting lending or gifting. I was offering you the chance to buy almost 30,000 of equipment at almost half off. Think of it as getting more bang for your buck with regard to gifting clan members, since for the price of 15,000, you'll get:

Unicorn of Giant's Strength (unicorn: +100 STR, +100 DEF; Giant's Strength: +100 STR)
Greatsword of Giant's Strength (greatsword: +20 STR; Giant's Strength: +100 STR)
Shortsword of Foresight (shortsword: +5 STR, +5 DEF; Foresight: +100 DEF)

That's +325 STR and +205 DEF.

Can you tell me that one of your clan members couldn't use that?

Huh... Just looked through your clan...

Sir Osis of Liver doesn't have a mount. He has a short sword of defending. He has a long sword of devil's guile. Those could all be upgraded, right? (Plus, he was one of the newbies I helped out... Six hundred gold, at a time I was making maybe 20gp per battle...)

C'mon, you like Sir Osis, right? Poor guy needs some decent enchantments...

I'm confident enough to take on the Balrog full time, now. 1602 DEF and 1559 STR, plus 827 hit points, that's not too darn bad. I just have to replace one Foresight and three Giant's Strength, so that means (from enchantments) I have another +300 to DEF and +100 to STR (plus another +400 to mana points, but who cares, right?).
