RPG Stores in London?

Sertimon

First Post
Hi, everyone!
My mom and dad are going to London soon, and I was wondering if someone living there would happen to know of any RPG stores located there? Just thought I'd ask here, since you guys are always so helpful :)

More specifically I wondered if there are any stores where you can by Reaper Miniatures and miniature paints (but RPG books as well). Addresses would be really helpful! Thanks!

There's only one I know of in Central London - The Orc's Nest.

Their address is : Orcs Nest, 6 Earlham Street, LONDON WC2H 9RY

They definitely sell Reaper stuff ...

They have a website http://www.orcsnest.com if you want to check it out which has directions how to get there.

The only other one I know of is in Finchley... Leisuregames.

Their address is:
100 Ballards Lane, Finchley, London, N3 2DN,

I've never actually been in the shop but I've ordered from their website http://www.leisuregames.co.uk .

They list Reaper stuff on their site so I assume that they have it in the shop. There's directions on how to get to the shop on their site as well.

Enjoy your trip over here, and good luck finding what you want.

Thanks Hawklord!

Thanks for the quick reply, Hawklord! This is exactly what I was looking for! Forgot about the fact that most stores have homepages. Knew that I forgot to add something in my first post! ;)

Anyway, thanks man, you just made my day :D

As an outsider (80 miles away) to London I always used to visit the Orcs Nest.

However, I discovered Playing Games at Gen Con UK last year and have found them to be better for browsing - they do not shrink wrap all their RPG books and they have a VERY good selection. Playing Games is on Museum Street, strangely enough very near to the British Museum (Russell Street). Find the main gate to the BM and face away. Museum Street is then slightly to the right with a good old fashioned British London Pub (TM) (whose name escapes me) on the corner.

The Orc's Nest does however carry stuff that Playing Games may not, since PG is a puzzle shop with an (still extensive) RPG section downstairs. The stairs are hiding inside the front window BTW. I completely missed them on my 1st visit!

I have also visited Leisure Games but they are a fair way out on the Underground.

There's one just down the street from the british museum. I'm not sure that I remember the name...in fact, I do not. However, it's within a few blocks of there...they had a HUGE D20 collection, as well as an enormous supply of minis.

Good luck finding it.

Nearly posted together there, Universe. You were pretty close to right. It isn;t hard to find Playing Games once you've found the British Museum.

My husband & I were just in London a few weeks ago, and we were staying right around the corner from the British Museum, on Bloomsbury St. I didn't see any game store on Museum St. Is it possible they've gone out of business?

We did visit The Orc's Nest, though. I bought a cool t-shirt with their logo (an ugly orc face). The Orc's Nest is easy to find. It's right near the intersection where Shaftesbury and Charring Cross come together. They don't open until 11:00 in the morning, and they aren't open on Sundays, so keep that in mind when you send the parental units to shop for you. Oh, and they did have a ton of miniatures.

Shame on you Buttercup! Fancy visiting London and not telling us!

(OTOH, maybe you *did* tell us and I just didn't notice? I don't spend as much time in the general forum as I used to...)

Cheers

It should still be going. It was there on October 18th.

Try this URL - http://www.explore-london.co.uk/musw.html

You may have to scroll to the right to see it. The British Museum would be just off you're monitor to the right. ;) The Museum Tavern (Ye Old Fashioned Landan Pub, mentioned above) is across the street from Fancy That (Behind the camera. Oh, just click on the Other Side of Street link)

The store itself does not seem to have a web-site of it's own.

They open at 10am (or 4 minutes to, on Oct 18th :p )

Thanks for the help everybody! Just wanted to inform those intrested that my parents trip went well. They had no problem, whatsoever finding Orcs Nest thanks to the directions found in this thread (and with the help of the map on their website, of course!) Thanks once again, guys and girls! :)
