RPGA dropping "Classics"?

Just a rumor, but is the RPGA dropping "Classic" D&D scenarios in favor of the Living Campaigns?

I assume this would be a financial and time-saving option, as the 'pre-generated' character scenarios just don't have much of an audience anymore. In fact, you don't see ANY d20 companies providing pre-generated characters for their scenarios (not like the old AD&D days).

Nope. As of a few weeks ago when this subject was discussed on the RPGA judge list, this was not the case, and RPGA had no plans for doing so. They ARE trying a few strategies for making them more popular at smaller cons, though.

Where did you hear this rumor?

Dropping classics? Yeesh. That's something I'd really rather NOT see happen! I'm sure Living events are great fun (never been in a good one myself...the first experience I had was god-awful and I just haven't had the occaision to play in any others since I only really play in RPGA events at GenCon--busy life + not much going on for the RPGA in my area = no games) but the only games I've played in for the past 2 years have been classics.

But P-Kitty says theres no plans for them to go, and he's as reliable a source as they come as far as I'm concerned.
