RPGA -- "Well of Woe" at GenCon not reported?

First Post
Has anyone who played Well of Woe seen it reflected in player activity yet?

Does anybody know how I can contact the RPGA to point out that it hasn't been reported (at least, not for my buddy and me)?

Please don't simply refer me to the RPGA webpage, unless you have a specific link, because it's an absolute mess, and they've pretty well buried any link to ask questions about reported (or unreported) events.

The RPGA is aware of the problem. (They better be - they've had four factionmasters hammering at them about it).

There are a few threads on the Wizards RPGA boards about it. Unfortunately, the RPGA is somewhat in disarray with SRM's resignation; and there needs to be a significant change to the database to handle Well of Woe.

Cheers!

Essentially, the database is set up so each faction is a separate "campaign." Unfortunately, reporting the event requires the DM to assign characters from multiple factions, which the system can't handle.

And, WotC seems to be in no hurry to fill the position. The RPGA is very low on their list of priorities, as can be seen by support in the past (such as the RPGA having really only two full employees, one of whom quit).

Watch out for an announcement about RPGA staffing soon, from the rumours I've heard.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for getting Well of Woe assigned to any particular character as I imagine that they'll find that it is cost-prohibitive to rework the database to handle the four factions like that. Instead look here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=712359 if you haven't already to see what GP/XP you should receive for the XE mods you've played so far.

The RPGA should be able to get you your reward points as people who played at the Extended Premieres have got those - you might get somewhere by getting in touch with David Christ the GenCon Senior DM. He's 'wavester' on most D&D related boards, including this one, I think, and certainly the WotC ones.

Other people have summed it up rather well. Right now there are problems with the character-tracking database. There will be problems for the foreseeable future. The Factionmasters have spared no feelings and wasted no breath in making sure that everyone at RPGA HQ knows about the problems. Very loudly. Very emphatically. We've considered using visual aids and hand puppets to get the point across.

With this mind, we have released the gp and xp totals for the mods that have been released up to this point, so people can keep track of their xp and gp totals. In all future adventures, the xp and gp amounts will be included so that players can continue to keep track of their own xp and gp totals. If the database is ever brought to the point where it can be trusted, excellent and tally-ho. If not, the paperwork will keep track of things.

Just remember to use the Xen'drik Expedition Adventure Journals for your characters. Write down everything: xp, gp, story objects, who you played with, event treasure, the alignment of the stars on the night you played, etc. That way, you have everything you need to enjoy the campaign without the technology-related stress.

And punch things a lot. That works for me.
