Rpgnow creditcard information stolen

This thread is making me ill. I understand why James is getting more than a little heated, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't take a long break before answering any particular post.

But the hyenas are worse IMO. Those companies that are trying to use this to play themselves up are distasteful. Because I am just one person means I don't have much of a voice, but I am keeping an eye on this thread and the one at rpg.net and compiling a list of companies I will never buy from again. So far I have one, lets see how many more are added.

I hope you understand that the advice to use paypal is just that and in no way prevents someone from using paypal anywhere someone cares to use it?

I don't think DMH means you. I suspect he's talking about the company that got the rpg.net thread being closed. After a clear moderator warning not to do such a thing ;).

You are not among the hyenas, Mark.

There is a forum here specifically for people to pimp their companies and products. To misuse, IMO, a thread in General about a company that is not their's to promote themselves is wrong. Just wrong.

She? Funny, I thought Derek was a male name. ;)

And you are right, I think Curt did the right thing with that warning.

Oh, sorry. I must have mixed you up with someone else. I'll edit the post above.

And yes, the whole thing was a bit blunt for my taste, too.

Well, in fairness, I am always promoting myself on some level, I suppose. Thanks for the clarification, though. Plus, I always thought of myself as more of a ligon. :)

For the record, Curt (the moderator) pre-approved my message via PM before I posted it in that thread because he said I was correcting misinformation. I would have no reason to post any message were James to stop saying that other sites who sell e-products have the same vulnerability that resulted in peoples CC's being hacked and simply address his company's issue. If he would have not associated his errors with other sites selling e-products, I would have never posted in any thread about this subject.

I don't want to post in this thread as this is not the appropriate place to discuss my company, but I cannot let James relate false security matters concerning my company implying that my customer's CC information is similarly at risk.

With that in mind, I hope everyone understands why my post is brief and only contains pertinant information to allay the spread of misinformation.

Then why post a link to it when one is in your sig?

It appears that receiving prior-permission to post by a moderator or correcting misinformation is not enough change your opinion, and for that I'm sorry. But regardless, this is not the thread to be discussing the matter.
