RPGNow E-Zine

Hey Publishers!

In an effort to promote PDF publishing and to increase the visiblity of non-d20 product and upcoming artists, we're going to be doing a FREE monthly newsletter at RPGNow. This e-zine will be distributed to our 10,000 customers, other websites, and is being put on Demo CD's of other products. It will be of course in PDF but formated mainly for the screen. It will also contain a fair amount of freebies like paper models and crunchy bits from our vendors.

We would like to get an issue out before X-Mas... so we are looking for some contributions in any form (interviews, previews, soap box, whatever). Please send them or your questions to: editor@rpgnow.com - We need these by the Dec 8th if you want in the first issue (sorry for the short notice). A great chance to help make your company or product gain more attention.

TENTITIVE NAME: RPGNow Downloaders Monthly
COVER EXAMPLE: http://www.rpgnow.com/RPGNowDec02.jpg
EDITOR IN CHIEF: Matt Drake <editor@rpgnow.com>
MAILING LIST GROUP: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rpgnowezine

Advertising in the newsletter will exist, but it's not paid for in cash. We'll award them for decent contributions that are not directly pushing a product. In other words, if you write an editoral/column on PDF Publishing in general and don't plug yourself, we'll give you a free 1/4 page ad in the newsletter.

We also still seek some staff (paid with in a 1/4 ad in the mag or just fame):

- D20 Manager (product spotlights, crunchy bits)
- RPGNow Products Columnist (New & Old)
- Reviews Columnist (orginize and choose review content)
- Industry Columnist (vendor interviews, helping new publisher)

Again, if intersted please contact Matt. We welcome any input.

Thanks,
James

The E-Zine is coming along nicely and we should have an issue out in time for x-mas. We have tons of great free submissions (articles, miniatures & tiles, reviews, crunchy bits, etc) from our vendors.

There are a few staff positions open yet though. Specifically, we are in need of a D20 columnist. Here's what you do, and who we need.

You'll cruise around RPGNow, checking out new D20 stuff. We will arrange a limited number of complementary copies so you can evaluate them. You'll write a monthly article telling people about your top picks for that month, with short descriptions of what each does well. These are not full reviews, more of a quick recap of what's on the site. You'll have to dig some - we need someone who will dig for that unobserved gem that is dwarfed by Eldritch Might 17. You're telling the readers about stuff they might miss otherwise, but don't forget to mention the stuff that is tearing up the charts. Just don't be swayed by hype and big names - we need the Indiana Jones of D20 writers.

We need someone who is intimately familiar with D20. Hopefully you'll be incredibly good at D20, with an eye for OGL and rules compliance, balance and usefulness. A good eye for innovation is good, too, and you have to be a very good writer so the editors don't send you letter bombs.

We need this person in a hurry, because we will be starting layout on the 16th, and anything not finalized and edited by then, just plain doesn't get in. It would be good to have this column appear in the first issue, and that means it has to be to the editors before next Wednesday.

If you think you can do this, e-mail me at editor@rpgnow.com and include reasoning why you would make a decent columnist.
