KI-RYN, to be honest, sales depend on a lot more than the quality of your product. Brand recognition and good public relations are much higher in getting inital sales on a product. Reviews are vital to the PDF industry, since it's hard to browse a PDF before buying.
Another thing, sales can be effected by the time of year. Summer vacation seemed to kill my sales, and the sales of other publishers.
If your product is good, and you make it known to buyers, you will make back the $40 in good time. It just may not be two weeks, or even a month at first. Sales come as people become comfortable buying from you.
