Is anyone aware of any scholarly academic work that has been done on RPGs and their use in education or RPGs as Literature? I am sure this has been discussed here before, but at the moment can't really find it.

Actually, there was one and possibly several projects done at WPI (Worcester, MA) about LARPing (and RPGs in general) as a basis for modeling social interactions and predictive studies. I was involved in the game, but not the project. I doubt it's online anywhere, but I'll see if I can dig up any more info about it...
