"Where have you been?" Quips mr Jones before atempting to open the door and saying "In here the guards are down, but there is a big machine with a load of blue buttons."

Archeville cleared his throat, loudly.

"Nein, Zenji. Ve haff no idea just vhat manner of force field generator it is, so your button-pushing may cause an overload und a great big explosion. Und zhere has already been far too much collateral damage. Allow me, und I can probably shut it down. If I cannot, then you may push buttons all you like. For now, zhough, keep an eye on zhe guards."

One of the doors does not budge but the other opens easilly, revealing that two heavilly armed and armored men were blocking the other door. Two men are collapsed near a machine that looks like an old arcade machine and a 5th man is lying in the middle of the room. The Arcade machine shows a display of the force field area and a timer in the top right corner (counting down from 2 hours). Several gages (including power, strength ect) are on the lower left corner of the screen. Like Mr. Jones said there are several unlabeled blue buttons and switches where the joystick and buttons would be on an arcade game.

[sblock=Shoulder Daemons]What a nice machine! Think of all the harm that could be avoided if force fields like this were available to everyone!

Yeah, or the kind of weaponry this technology could create... ditto on the 'psychic grenades,' those were nice and nasty.[/sblock]

"Fascinating..." Archeville says as he floats in and admires both the large device and the effect of the 'psychic grenade,' his eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. His focus soon shifts totally on the force field machine. Quite zhe elegant design, too..." He admires it from several angles, looking closely at parts, but not yet actually touching it out of concern it may be booby-trapped.

Knowledge (technology) roll to try and identify (1d20+20 = 23)

Mr Jones glances at the strange machine, but thinks better of interfering leaving it to the expert.

Instead he sets about kicking the guns away from the sprawled guards and collecting any of the grenades he spots. Dropping them into his opera hat. "Dangerous things these, took out half the building. Best to keep them out of harms way."

At first look this seems to be just a gutted arcade machine, probably from the late 80s or early 90s...but the pixilation of the screen (or lack thereof) immediatly disproves that. Without actually opening it Archeville cannot determine how it's generating the forcefield...or even how it's powered; the deviced isn't plugged into any outside power source.

"Interesting... perhaps a power core inside, no external energy source needed... won't know for sure until I peek inside, zhough, so--"

Archeville moves behind it to seek an access panel right as Zenji fires off his magic-null beam.

The blast from Zenji's staff causes the machine to emit a low buzzing sound. A visiable, translucent shield forms around it. The screen flashes to read "ANALYZING THREAT" and a blue light beam emits from the machine's roof to quickly scan the room.

The shield gives Archeville a small, painful, jolt of pain as it appears. (more of a deturrant then an attack)
