Rules Compendium

Perhaps to those who own all the other books already. To me, these compendiums are a boon, like a greatest hits record from Ronco.
But what Eric is describing is not a compendium-style book. It's a book of discussion on the rules of the game. If that is what it is, and the information we have suggests it, I agree that it's a pretty useless book. Supplements are too expensive for what amounts to in-depth Sage Advice about grappling, attacks of opportunity and evasion. That's what magazine articles are for, not full color, hardcover RPG supplements.

Oh, I had an entirely different impression of what it was to be. I thought it was something that would incorporate stuff found in all the complete books so that you didn't have to haul 12 books with you. I agree, if it's just a rehash of PHB I'll skip it, but if it truely is a compendium (as I expect it to be) it will have much more worth.

Quite. If the book is a collection of stuff from the Complete, Races, Environmental, and Critternomicon books I'm all over it. If not, well, not a likely sale. What I'm really hoping for is a Feat Compendium with some PrCs and misc. rules thrown in.
