Rules Disagreement with my DM, please help!

However, you should keep in mind that the DM is always right.

Except when he's flat-out-wrong. If the DM wants to be a child about it when he's wrong, it's time to find another DM.

Honestly, I think that's one of the most loaded statements in all of roleplaying. A DM is a referee. He makes rulings, but that certainly does not make him right in any way, shape, or form. I'm a DM myself. I've got a lot of games under my belt, and I have never, not once, ever supported that phrase. I make rulings. I do not define what is "right".

Anyway, enough of the rant. I'll be here all week, and don't forget to tip your waitresses.

I rephrase: The DM is [finger-quotes]always right.[/finger-quotes]

God, I had a month or two period recently where I was doing those lame finger quote things constantly, I was annoying myself it was so bad. I'm so glad I broke the habit.

Hi, I'm Ray Weiss and I'm a finger quote-aholic, I've been lame gesture free for 5 weeks and 3 days.

Hi Ray.

Read the above.

:)

However, based on the spell's description, I would have to agree with you.

In our group, the DM will listen to any difference of opinion you may have regarding a ruling he has made, but for the most part, will stick to what he believes to be the right interpretation of the rules.

This is a double-edged sword, since it speeds up game play by avoiding long discussions (well, most of the time, hehe), but on the other hand, very troublesome when you know in your gut that you are right. But, the DM usually has game balance at hand so it is not so bad.

:)

I agree with the others as well. I'd say at worst, you ignore the mirror image because your directing the attack, but the blur still applies since the hand has to make the attack roll.

But like I said, that's worse case scenario, I think you ignore both.
