Rules for throwing flour?

As much as I hate to disagree w/someone who invokes the hallowed name of the Swedish Chef and prays to beer...

... its just that, as a general rule, I like certain mundane solutions to be effective against magical problems. I've been in too many games where beyond a certain point, non-spellcasters might as well give up on clever play, since the lionshare of obstacles are magical, and the DM's have ruled that only other magics provide an effective solution.

And as an aside; a Catholic friend of mine back in college used the following prayer: "Bud, Bud, Bud is thy blood". Makes me almost miss the King of Beers...

But... flour isn't nearly as effective, given the rules above. It's limited to 5 feet, can't blind, and can be made invisible again (where glitterdust can't).

Edit: Also, you can't throw flour defensively.

What I meant was... that once the flour was on the character, it becomes attended by him, and becomes invisible (the flour). Just like something he picks up, that doesn't stick out 10ft. would be come invisible.

Mike
You might want to read the invisibility spell again, because that's not the way it works.

So, the flour that is covering the guy ISN'T being carried by him?
You might want to try reading the entire spell description. Particularly the part that states: "Items picked up disappear if tucked into the clothing or pouches worn by the creature." It's in the same paragraph as the sentence you quoted.

Items are not turned invisible if you pick them up after the spell is cast, you have to cover them with your invisible clothing to make them disappear.

Oh? read the whole thing? Hey! THATS where they tell you the duration and stuff! Thanks...

So, you spend a round waving your sleeves around in order to cover all of the flour (at some point during the round).

That's still not tucking the flour inside your clothes, now is it?

Go by what the spell says, not by my paraphrase of the spell.

heh...

Sure it is... at some point a patch of flour is between 2 layers of clothing. ;)

This is one of the funnier threads is a while... thanks Caliban.

Not "tucked inside", though. If anything, that's "tucked outside".

If you take off your clothes and put them back on inside-out, that would work.

Hey... that sounds like a good feat!

Quick disrobe
Assuming you aren't wearing any armor (see DMG. for added times for removing that...), someone with this feat can, in 1 full round, remove their shirt and pants.

Without this feat, you can never remove your shirt or pants.
