Rules question about items

Could I have any number of items, provided that in terms of spending yen they count as one?

In terms of flavor yes.

You have 'one item' that grants power, but that 'one item' could be a set of different items, if you wish.

For example with Meowth, he has the Gamera 'item', which is Style Turtle and Location Volcano. And Meowth has the Gamera Whistle, which is Mastery Turtle.

Or you could even have the 'item' to be something that isn't even an item. Dalamar for example has as his item 'training'.

Just so long as you pay the correct amount of yen for it, you are pretty free to let your character dictate the nature of the item.
