Pathfinder 1E Rules Question: Pathfinder diviner wizard asleep during an ambush

If he'd succeeded on the Perception check, he'd be awake (not unconscious), so he would be able to take actions.

Actually, that's my point - if a successful Perception check (meaning he detected the ambush) means that he is awake and able to take actions, then the Foresight ability (which means he detects the ambush) should also mean that he is awake and able to take actions. Basically, it's a supernatural sense that makes him aware even when his regular senses fail him.

I would have given him a "pre"-Perception check. Basically giving him a chance to wake earlier than anyone else. That is, if everyone made their perception rolls to detect the ambush in the surprise round, I would have given him the oll in the super-surprise round (?lol!). If he failed that, then it just like the other characters attempts during the surprise round.

'twasn't the "wrong" call, but it isn't the call I would've made, mostly for the story/coolness/Perception-check reasons mentioned above. You're absolutely within your authority, but if you're playing a diviner...you basically should get the benefit of the doubt when you're avoiding surprise, IMO.
