So he's since changed his mind after making that initial post? That's a good thing.
Well of course he has. He got the clicks from his clickbait post. Then he gets to claim the high road by saying that he's "seen the truth". Never minding that 30 seconds of research would have meant that his original clickbait wouldn't have gotten written in the first place.

And people wonder why WotC won't engage? If WotC were to say anything here, no matter what, there are a rather vocal group of "fans" that are so openly hostile that no matter what someone from WotC were to say, it will be taken out of context, stripped of any message and weaponized to show how WotC hates fans for years to come.

I most certainly don't blame WotC for not engaging here.

WotC: "We are in no way doing the thing."

Some dude who needs clicks: "See? WotC is going to do the thing because they hate us and they want to poop on your game!"

What's the downside of Wizards officially saying they have no plans to stop supporting the OGL, and value continued third-party support for D&D in the One D&D era? Can't be worse than saying nothing, since people are already assuming a worst-case scenario.

Never underestimate how stupid humans can get when they're motivated by greed. To a Hasbro exec revoking the OGL might seem like a magic button to bring all those 3PP dollars home to WotC.
Then those execs don't understand why people are spending money on 3pp. Third parties provide product that wizards is not providing. Its never going to end up going back to wizards unless they put out those priducts( which wizards isn't going to do). And that money will stay in consumers pockets

Why would WotC waste their time? A handful of internet people (both here and elsewhere) are assuming a worst-case scenario over a game that is still almost 2 years from release. That is more than enough time for WotC to release playtest material that will make every single one of those people completely forget they are supposed to be upset about the potential of no SRD... when there will be so many other nitpicky little rules in those playtest packets for people to lose their crap over.

Every month there is something done or released that makes people here lose their freaking minds. And WotC can't put out every single little fire... especially when most of those fires are so patently ridiculous in the first place. So they just let those people run around in circles until the flames either go out on their own, or they burn the person up. Either way... problem solved and they don't have to spend their precious time on them.
