Lord Haar (ruler of Geanavue) is actually in the line of succession for the Imperial throne of Kalamar. It seems that his grandmother was an illegitimate child of the then-emperor. So if something should happen to the current imperial heir....

There's a necromancer living in the mountains northwest of Geanavue who is raising an undead army. He is *also* descended from a bastard of the Emperor. He hates Lord Haar.

Lord Haar's son and heir Mearo has always been a bit wild, as everyone knows. However, I heard from my cousin, who has a friend whose uncle is a servant at the castle, that Mearo has late stage syphilis, and has gone crazy. He won't be having an heir of his own, and probably won't live long enough to rule.

There is a small island off the coast where the weather never changes. There is always a lightning storm over it and the water is too dangerous to sail a boat through to land. An ancient necromancer lives on the island, and is creating a hord of zombies from the bodies of people who wash overboard into the ocean.

Shambling mounds are really the undead remains of evil elves who died in the great swamp.

The hills to the north of town are really the long buried ruins of an ancient civilization. They have not been dug up because of the horrific traps that are still in place.

Yuan ti don't really exist, they are really a cult of sorcerers who use very powerful illusions to disguise themselves.

Dragon Earth Rumors

Ghosts from the Imperial Chinese battleship, The Golden Lotus have been spotted roaming the streets of downtown San Diego. Most of the time they help with directions, but at least one tourist is known to have died of fright upon seeing one.

Black dragon zombies have been spotted in the bayous of Louisiana.

The president of France is being besiged in his sleep by the spirits of all the kobolds killed by the Petain government (1922-1941) as part of its racial cleansing policies.

The Late Ho Chi Minh (founder of the Republic of Vietnam (1935) and first president (1936-1944)) is said to be roaming the city of Hue as a lich. Stories have it that it is his destruction that will lift the curse placed on the region by the accursed Lich King.

Ki Rumors

The Wolf Folk have a secret city high in the mountains north of the city of Yr. Yr being a port city on the Wolf Folk Sea.

The Unicorn Orcs have been forgiven for the crime that led to their exile to Ki and are preparing to leave for their original home.

Orcs are the product of a secret breeding program between elves and goblins designed to produce a race that can face the hated dwarfs in battle on an equal basis.

The dragons, for reasons of their own, have decided to help the kekihj (my illithid substitute) transform the universe and everything living in it into a form more suited to the kekihj.
