Runequest vs. every other RPG system

Now Olan, you know better than to call me things like that.

Instead of saying “we will not attract the sort of followers we need by being shifty, evil, and cowardly”, say “we will attract the sort of followers we need by being smart, resourceful and self-preserving.” Like you, my first goal is to vanquish the Enslavers. But goal number two is to keep my pretty little tookus alive. I think that is best accomplished with allies, so off we go to the Azraelites.

Why is heroism the one thing that these rebels are looking for? All we really know about them is that they’re hiding in the mountains. That doesn’t sound like a group of people who value straightforward confrontation and charging into battle. They sound more like the type who prefer hiding and striking an enemy’s weakest spot, probably under the cover of darkness, tactics that you would call shifty and cowardly. I say that we be a little more open minded about whose blood is pure enough to spill for our cause.

We’ve made our decisions in the past as a matter of consensus, or barring that, majority rule. That’s how we will continue to act as well. We don’t need to swear fealty or take an oath of morality. Talk about enslavers!

There's nothing wrong with being sneaky or using guerilla tactics. Sometimes that's the best way to accomplish ones goals. The enemy will give us no quarter and use the same tactics. There's nothing dishonorable with using those same tactics against them. As long as we can accomplish good without resorting to purely evil ways to accomplish the good, all should be well.

I believe I have been misinterpreted. I have no qualms with guerilla tactics. Let's move on! I just have a problem believing that we are anything but mighty! When the fight is at hand, we act, we fight, and we win! Hooray! No one is saying that anyone is looking for heroism, but if you want to attract followers, it ain't a bad place to start, is it? We are unstoppable! Let's believe in this, and sooner or later it will become true!
