D&D 4E Running a solo 4e game - is it possible?

Tricky, yes, but not impossible if you as DM play your cards right (by which I mean, tailor the opponents and encounter strength to the character.) I've found that even a party of two PCs can be overwhelmed by a monster that is more than one or two levels higher than them, or by a large number of foes, even minions. I suggest keeping the levels of opponents equal to or less than the PC and the numbers quite low as well. Use your judgment based on the PC's role and choose appropriate monster roles that won't walk all over him or her. And remind the player it is perfectly acceptable to retreat from battle if it's looking bad!

Yes, it's very possible, and I think with any class, as long as the DM is mindful of the abilities of his players.

It's all about careful planning.
