There's a big aprt of me that is really very fascinated with the idea of taking a setting and running it with a system that is nearly the polar opposite of that setting's default system by association. What do I mean?
Well, for example, I bought Burning Wheel Revised (a high lethality, low magic, system with an emphasis on social conflict) with eye toward running a 'gritty' Forgotten Realms campaign (something that I have found is somewhat hard to do with a low lethality, high magic, system that focuses mostly on epic combats).
Have you ever looked at a system and setting that were at odds with each other mechanically and thought "Hey! I bet these two things would rock together!" -- me? Hey, I wrote a recent Risus conversion for Cyradon (yes, the HARP/Rolemaster setting)
