Running games with unintended systems. . .

Hmmm, does running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, reset to WWII, with Spycraft 2.0 count? :)

I've just started Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, reset to a Victorian Age "Dr. Whoniverse", using Dread. :D

In the distant past, I once ran The Sunless Citadel and Forge of Fury using D20 Modern in a post-apocalyptic version of the western United States.

I've also got ideas for running some of the classic D&D modules, like Isle of Dread, Tomb of Horrors, Expedition Beyond the Barrier Peaks and Dwellers of the Forbidden City as 1920's/1930's pulp-action adventures for Spirit of the Century.

Running a Quest For Fire game, using Shadowrun rules. That'd be fun, if sort of... pointless.

Seriously, though, I'd like to use the Gunslingers and Gamblers rules for something that was a bit more fantastic (but probably still set in a western universe). And I've lately been considering combining 3.5E with D20 Apocalypse and running some DUNGEON adventures in such a setting, sort of like what Pbartender was saying.

At the last Boston game day, I ran a fun Esoterrorists game. It uses Robin Laws' GUMSHOE system.

Thing is, I kind of want to try the same game using Dread, which may be a polar opposite system. I'm tremendously curious whether the game feels better, worse, or simply different. I suspect that I am poor at investigative games, and good at horror games, so I'm trying to play to my strengths. Is this wussing out? I haven't entirely decided.

There was a game on here -- either PbP or story hour -- called "Riddle of Midnight", which used the Riddle of Steel rules in the Midnight setting. It sounded very cool from the little I recall.

Cheers, -- N

Oh my... Nifft's and PC's last posts just gave me quite the chuckle... a Dread PbP game!

That would be a system run over an unintended medium... :)

Very cool! I love Doctor Who and Dread.

I haven't done this with SotC but I have done this very thing with my own Pulp Risus rules hack.

Aw, man! I was totally trying to run Call of Cthulhu! Where did these Paranoia characters come from? Guess I'll have to TPK and start over. Wow, I screwed that up!

My players are rather excited about it... The basic premise is that the characters are all Torchwood Institute agents in 1888, shortly after its founding.

Rock on! I tried to get local interest for a TimeLord game of similar design but it didn't happen. Maybe if I sell it as D&D with a different ruleset. . . :D
