Back in the early 1980s, a buddy of mine ran mashups of D&D with Boot Hill or Gamma World.
The closest I've come to doing something like what the OP posted is my penchant for using HERO to run anything and everything. Most successful were a HERO/RIFTS combo, HERO/Crimson Skies and a HERO/Space:1889 campaign featuring super-powered G.A.I.A agents (think Interpol) in the year 1900.
I also toyed with rules to use M:tG as the magic system for an RPG, LEGOS as a Starfire/SFB-esque space combat game (pre- Wizkids Rocketmen game), and so forth.
I also have some alternate rules for RoboRally, and was slowly working through a conversion of Confrontation rules (from French into English*) into Chainmail terms when 1) DDM was released, and 2) Contfrontation rules were published in English.
*I am not fluent in French, but have a Creole's passing familiarity with it, and can tell when they're using CMs and not inches.
