While I'm sure you THINK you were being silly here, that is actually close to the truth. Take a Grey alien. Add pointy ears, hair, and pseudomedieval clothing. Viola! An elf. The fey never left us; they just changed their schticks to keep up with the times. Anal probes instead of changelings. Flying saucers instead of fairy rings.
