D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

That's 40 out of a planned 150 games. I'm about on track plot-wise where I thought I'd be, and I'm already rejecting certain fun sideplots that I probably won't have time to include. It's kind of painful.

Just keep saying to yourself: "Don't want the campaign to run 16 years. Don't want the campaign to run 16 years." :)

I want the campaign to run 16 years.
I want the campaign to run 16 years.
I want the campaign to run 16 years.

Seriously, as a LONG time lurker/rare commenter on these boards, I logged in again just to say: This is good Stuff!

If it runs 16 years, I get - what? - 2 1/2 more campaigns before I kick off from old age? Too few!

Thanks for the kind words. In exchange, and since I don't think any players will check in at this point, I'll give you a preview of tonight's first challenge in the form of a riddle. Why did the adolescent froghemoth cross the swamp?

You guys are lucky to have a group stick together so well over that much time.

It can be pretty cool. In my group, three of us have been gaming together since '87, two more joined in '90. We do have one piker, age 32, who joined in '98, and two old fogies who I've gamed with on and off since '00.

Though we prefer to run tighter, shorter campaigns. I think the longest was about 2 years though one 'campaign' was really 4 tied together by my dimension-hopping character hunting down a dimension-hopping villain (dnd thrice, GURPS Horror). Recently it's more like 6-8 months though my Deadlands game is at about 18 months.

Oh, and yeah, Cobalt should totally be nicknamed "Bait". :)

One of my games had a harper rogue with a chip in his shoulder refer to the party's bard as 'chum'. He would send in the poor sap into a social environment where he would inevitably do or say something stupid and the rogue would see who the 'sharks' were and how they reacted.

because it was lady froghemoth night at the canteen and he was hoping for some amphibian action?
You misspelled "hopping."

Sagiro will write it up, but it was a good game. My adolescent froghemoth was an elite brute with an attack selection better suited to a solo (on purpose - I wanted a tough but fast fight), and then it was chock full 'o traps that required some thinking to outwit.
