I hope the anime fans on this board are present, because I'd like to tell you about the live action adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki's popular manga.
The movie is great. It manages to convey everything that was wonderful about the manga/anime. The casting was spot on, with Takeru Sato (of Kamen Rider Den-O fame) playing the perfect Kenshin. Other notable players were Munetaka Aoki as Sanosuke, Yu Aoi as Megumi and Yosuke Eguchi as Saito. Though the film compresses the first 3 major story arcs of the series, it manages to tell a compelling tale. And let me just say that the fight scenes in this film were amazing. Fast and furious without relying on too much wirework and or any CG.
I had the pleasure to watch this film on the big screen in my country, but now it's available on dvd and bluray in Japan. I encourage all of you to seek it out whether or not you're a Rurouni Kenshin fan. It's an excellent film that needs more love.
