S&SS Advanced Players Guide

Hello everybody!

I was cruising the web pages of various game companies and I came across this.

Now, even forgetting that the cover is a fine vision of good ol AD&D nostalgia it seems like it has possibilities.

Does anybody have any more info or opinions on this book? It makes me curious and I hope that the myriad of people on these boards can enlighten me as to how decent it is.

Of course, it is just shipping this week so it may not even be on shelves, but if there is any gossip floating about out there that would be fine too!

Thanks!

Dunno much about it, but you might want to also look at Green Ronin's upcoming Advanced Rulebooks. They appear to be attempting to do something similar.

I think the main idea of the products is to reach customers who previously haven't bought any d20 products.

Yes, those do look pretty nice as well. I thought I might stay away from a thread about them until they are a little closer to being out. This one is out this week though, so more people might have something to say about it.

Of course, I will probably end up buying both of them sooner or later.

Well, yes, but what kind of alternate rules? Do people think that anything like this coming from S&SS would be any good? That sort of thing is what I am looking for.

I can't get to a FLGS for a while yet, but if anybody has any insight on this book at all I would love to hear it.

I would love to know something about this book...anything at all. Has no one heard of this thing before now?

It's funny.. there was just a thread two weeks ago or so, and people, including myself, talked about having never heard of it.. :D

A preview is a must, especially since I'm already committing myself to Green Ronin's books... If the preview looks good, I'll likely nab it too.

I think it's interesting that they are coming out with an Advanced Players Guide. Kinda reminds me of when the Advanced D&D books came out...what will this make the ones already out, Basic Player's Guides?
