Beamer actually does have a chess piece. He picked up a black bishop after destroying the wounded gargoyle with his magic missile. As a reminder, everyone except Banion has at least one. Ogrin has a pawn, Eusebius has the queen, and Rasereit has, er, 2 knights, a bishop, a rook, 3 pawns and the black king.
------------
Banion manages to strike the panel with his mindblade. The adjacent door slides open, and stays open for about 2 seconds, then closes again. Beyond, Banion can only see another secion of beige hallway.
-----------
The door in front of Ogrin slides open with a noise soundling like a hiss of air. Directly beyond this door, Ogrin sees what appears to be the back of a statue. The statue seems to be of a human woman. It is of very high quality. The woman is young and beautiful from the back, with hair down past her feet. She is nude and standing on what seems to be the bottom half of an oyster shell. It is all carved from white marble, apparently.
Beyond this statue is a corridor or small room. Ogrin can't really tell. All he can really see from where he stands is a beige wall about 15 feet beyond the statue.
-------------
Beamer looks closely at the deck before drawing. There appear to be about 16 cards. He draws a card. Eusebius holds his breath, waiting for something to happen. THe card is the Ace of Spades.
This card shows a black and a white chesspiece king in the center. The white king is winking and looks to be enjoying himself. The black king looks stern and angry.
Beamer's face twitches as he stares at the card. Then he puts it down.
