S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

Beamer commands the Unicorn to attack, which it is eager to do. It trots back to the edge of its square to ready a charge. However, when the battle is joined, it is the black king who gets the edge. He lashes out with his chains, which grow to 15 feet long. Simutaneously, he pulls other chains off the battlefield to his cause, whipping a dead minotaur's belt through the air towards the unicorn. The chains rip into the its flesh. (14 dmg)

The unicorn still charges in, and skewers the king with its horn, though the damage seems minimal. The Black King's responses are brutal. One of his chains catches the equine on its face and sends an eye flying across the marble. The battle continues to go downhill, with the Black King seemingly resistant to the unicorn's attacks, and its chains too long and flexible for the unicorn to retreat to heal itself effectively.

The battle is over quickly, and the unicorn is dead. The Black king has been injured, however, and that damage does not seem to heal.

With the death of the unicorn, there is no barrier between the wounded black bishop and Beamer himself. And sure enough, the Balck king signals it to attack.

Beamer watches grimly as the unicorn is defeated. Then the black bishop begins to move and he realizes he is unprotected! "Oh, damn." His body working quicker than his mind, he instictively launches three missles at the enemy while moving to the lower right corner of his square.

OOC:
Cast Magic Missle on the bishop. 3d4+3 damage.
Spells remaining: 6/4/6/3

Beamer blasts the advancing black bishop, causing its cracked stone body to explode.

Having made short work of that threat, the white king is able to trot over to where its body is rapidly disapearing, and pick up a little black bishop of his very own.

White's turn again. Map same sans Bishop...

Ogrin holds his breath as Beamer takes on his first foe in this combat. His tense face breaks into laughter as the bishop is disintegrated. "My Liege, you are unstoppable! Let us finish this farce. White queen forward and right to bring their king closer to our lines?"

Rasereit winces and cheers with the rest of them during Eusebius' close battle with the Rasereit's opposite. At the end, when Eusebius gains the upper hand, Razh kicks and slashes with his own weapons, enjoying every bit of the show.

In the battle with the black King, he watches with an analytical eye, but makes few noises.

Beamer gets a great dwarven belly laugh as his missiles easily destroy the battered bishop.

And now that it's white's turn again, he speaks up. "Aye, though Ah'd love t'see this bag o' bones go dahn, it's better t'save me energy for Big Beams."

The Black King, though his face is inscrutible, seems to want to avoid the white queen. He moves one square closer to the white ranks.

"Ye'd best watch out, m'liege. Your friend is but a step away, an' Ah'll be in no position t'save ye if he advances."

OOC: The king can obviously put himself into check, so that means we have to be careful of him engaging Beamer.

To Ogrin, Beamer says, "Unstoppable or in debt to our late friend the centaur, I'll take it either way."

To Rasereit, "Yep, he sure can," Beamer says as he chews his lip in concentration. He tries to find the best way to corner the King. "Rasereit, you should destroy that skeleton next to you. Be ready for an immediate counter attack from the king, though. You may want to use your axe against the skeleton just so you will be ready for the king. That will cut off his advance and put him in a tough spot."

OOC:
It seems from the fight with the unicorn that the King has damage reduction other than magic (the unicorn's horn is magic). Rasereit vs Black King could be a very tough fight, unless slashing gets through the DR.

"Your wish is my command." Rasereit loosens his shield with a shake and takes his axe in both hands.

Combat notes:
AC is 20 w/o shield
No charge, just move and engage.

Std atk: 2h axe w/ 3 PAtk: +9 melee 1d10+11
Full atk: 2h axe w/ 3 PAtk: +9/+4 melee 1d10+11

[sblock=Ignore this. I've just counted up the actual number of squares and E can't reach them!]Eusebius pipes up.

"King Beamer, if you want the skeletons destroyed, then perhaps I can be of assistance. I would enjoy nothing better than to wipe these abominations from the face of the board."

OOC: Unless you particularly want Rasz to act, Eusebius can perform a greater turning, which should (if the roll goes well) destroy most if not all of the skellies on the board.

Hmm ... Hyrag vs whatsisname - I wonder which god wins?[/sblock]
