SAaving throws?

Disclaimer im using the 4.0 lite book.

Okay, im trying to make a paladin and i was noticing that their class ability of channel divinity, divine mettle, they get +3 to saving throws.. but saving throws have been done away with, so what gives?

Oh and another question, it says i get 2 at will , one per encounter and one perday ability. Before the at will abilities there are a couple abilities , are those just class abilities that i get automatically, or are those part of my list that i can pick on for my per encounter abilities. If that makes any sense at all.

Things have changed big style:
Saving throws still exist (look at the Wizard Sleep spell) but they are not Ref/Wil/Fort anymore those are now defences (along with AC). All saving throws are roll 1d20 (normally when the effect gets you and at the end of your turn with on going effects) 1-9 fail, 10+ succeed.
Each character gets 2/1/1 of the powers from their class list at first level but races and other stuff can add to these. Some things which appear on the at will list are not powers (which are chosen from the class list) but class features (which all members of the class get; although there can be different versions of the same class feature e.g. Rogue Tactics)

Hope this helps

Edit: for the paladin you get everything from the class description in the PHBlite: Divine Mettle, Divine Strength, Divine Challenge, Lay on Hands (all Class features); 2 at will powers (we only have 2), and one each of /e & /d (we only have one of each)

another question, what would i put under the components on my powers list.. ? Cause i have no idea what that means as a paladin..

To explain.

Components would be those words like "Divine, Radiant, Weapon, Implement" etc etc. Each spell has a set of components or requirements that belong to the spell or power. It's just quick reference for you.

We don't even know the amount needed to level yet. We can guess, but nothing has been confirmed.

Anyway, we don't have enough feats/powers and the knowledge of when to apply them to level anyone up yet.

ah alright, one more thing do i just pick a weapon for my paladin? Since there is no sembelance of starting gold, or how much anything costs. Also i assume we get just one feat at level 1? Oh and one last thing, what does the "Paladin Attack 1" or "Rogue attack 9" mean? I initially thought it was levels, but then i saw the rogue one ...

If you're using the sample characters from D&D Experience, then you have what's on that character sheet. Those weapons, those feats.

so its impossible to make a 1st level rogue then with the pdf lite handbook? Also i was talking about starting out with a weapon with the pdf lite book.
