@Kobold Stew I think you still have the bardic inspiration left if you want to make the 2nd 1 a hit? Otherwise can always leave it for saves!
They're just such terrible rolls. Does using it for 9 points change things when they heal 10? I thought it wouldn't.

It's odd taking over someone else's character. It's like a suit that doesn't fit.

And it's harder at high level, when you haven't had any adjustment into it!

"I can't produce any fire!" Alvin calls out in frustration, as a troll punches into the open wound in his belly.

He slashes with his scimitar at the creatures approaching him, attacking the one healthiest of the foul creatures first, until he falls, before moving on to the other.

The healthiest near you would be T3.

Attack: strike 1: 1d20+11=30. Damage = 1d6+8=14 magical slashing. Plus 1d8=3 radiant (first roll only; sorry)
strike 2: 1d20+11=16 (miss? If not, damage = 9 magical slashing).

Bonus: strike 3: 1d20+11= 23. Damage = 1d6+8=9 magical slashing.

All three hit, for 35 damage.

Move: 20' south, getting clear and risking AoOs.

Troll 3 (who you just attacked) lunges out at you as you move.

Attack roll: 19. Damage if it hits is 11 slashing.

Next up is the hidden Rogue.

Attack Troll 3 with bow--looks like it should still be adjacent to the Fighter, since I didn't see anything about Asa moving?

Roll to hit: 3 17 + 10 = 27.
Weapon damage: 3 + 5 = 8
Sneak attack: 31
Total damage: 39.

Bonus action: Hide again. Roll 6 11 = 21.

Troll 3? Ok, missed that.

You hit, and its still up.

Sorcerer next.

I'll cast a 3rd-level scorching ray targeting T3 with first one, then all downed creatures then focus fire T3 until its down too until it too collapses.

Scorching Ray to-hit:
[5][15]+12=27
[13][13]+12=25
[6][2]+12=18
[3][2]+12=15

Damage for each ray:
[1]+[5]+5= 11 fire damage
[2]+[6]=8
[3]+[6]=9
[5]+[1]=6

Technically the downed Trolls are prone (and incapacitated and unconscious), so you have disadvantage (due to making an attack while not being within 5' of them) which cancels out the advantage of unconscious and invisibility.

However I reckon the disadvantage is due to 2D combat (its harder to shoot a prone target on a 2D field as they present a smaller target) so I'm happy to ignore that disadvantage in this case.

Of course if I was to do that , you should be at disadvantage for shooting standing ones, as they also present a smaller target to you from up where you are looking down on them...

That said, even if I applied the disadvantage, you'd hit anyway.

So that's T1, 2 and 3 all burnt to a crisp.

Bard. You're up.

Can I zig zag a wall of fire in front of T6, T5 and T4 (length is not a problem 60'), putting all of the trolls on thy "hot side?" Making sure we're all on the "not hot side," seems optimal.

Assuming that's OK. I'll cast wall of fire (by using the lyre) :

DC 18 DEX save. 18 damage half if save made.

My reading of the spell is its either a straight line or a ring of fire.

Zig zags and triangles and similar arent allowed?

Any source for allowing a zig zag pattern?

I was hopeful and found some backup on DnD beyond. But then further googling, I think not (Jeremy crawford says ring or one straight wall).

So ringed wall or straight line.

Don't think I can get a ring big enough to get all the trolls inside or out (without hitting the Cleric). I do know that T6 needs minimal fire to die so I'll just do a line right to the north of the fighter with the trolls on the hot side.
So 18 damage (DC 18 DEX for half) to T6 and T5.

That work?

Can you show me on the map?

(copy paste and then edit it with a straight line where you want it)

I've had a long day at work and my brain is melting.

Ok A (relatively small) wall right to the north of the fighter the "arrows" are not part of the wall they just show which way the "hot" end is pointed. So intent is to get T6 and T5 but not the fighter (the rogue is too far north to be affected).

I considered putting is south of the fighter and getting all the trolls because it's only 18 damage but figured that was too metagamey as it COULD have been up to 40.

Pretty clear?

Yep - a line through T5 and 6 facing north.

Both passed the save (thank you magic resistance!).

Can you roll the damage? 5d8 fire.

Then if you want to move or bonus action anything, and I can do the Trolls turn.

Troll 4 (no longer incapacitated as you dropped concentration on Hypnotic Pattern for Wall of Fire) regenerates, and will advance to the Bard and attack 3 times:

11 - Miss
20 - 14 slashing damage (and a Con save +5 for the Paladin)
16 - Miss.

Troll 5 will fly over the wall of Fire, land adjacent to the Bard who just burnt him, and also attack 3 times:

20 - 6 piercing damage (and a Con save)
12 - Miss
26 - 8 slashing damage (and a Con save)

Trolls 1, 2, 3 and 6 are all toast.

Let me know how you fare with the Con saves (although it's probably not going to matter) @Mort

Otherwise it's the Fighter.

I'm just going to let the wall drop so the rogue has an easier shot (with easy -sneak attack since I'm right next to the trolls).
