Sandstorm - beautifully illustrated?

Hmmmm, do these rules include how sand gets into every orifice of your body, cloths, weapons/ equipment, food and water?
Yeah, they say the only thing you can really do to avoid it is to go to Naboo where everything is soft and smooth.

Heh. :) You have the numbers wrong.
You're correct, it turns out I was thinking of what's in the 3.0 DMG. While it's good to see that they revised the numbers upwards to more reasonable levels in 3.5, I'm still no fan of forcing the players to make periodic (and somewhat challenging) Fort saves.

You know, I think there's a mentality around here that "We must get it all!"
Me! Me! Err, if I had the money, that is. :p

I'd also like to see a book for jungle environments. And though it seems unlikely, what about a book that covers supernaturally-created wastelands? They seem to be common enough in game worlds. ;)

George Strayton is da bomb. I first met him about ten years ago before he was with West End Games; from there he went on to create the Herc/Xena game, then over to the Herc/Xena show, where he was head of marketing and a writer. I consider him a great roleplayer and a very impressive designer, and I'm psyched he's back in the industry.

What did he pay you? ;)

These look like they could be really good, but I doubt I'll ever use them which is a shame...

Not a red cent, more's the pity. George falls under the category of "people I really like but never get to spend enough time with." I've only seen him intermittently since he moved to the West Coast.

There's a feature on the WotC site covering various aspects of the environment: monsters, spells, magic items. My guess is that some of those will make their way into Frostburn, Sandstorm, and whichever other books are in the series. (I personally nominate the title Mudslide for the swamp/jungle book.)

But I like the DMG 3.5 rules on environmental hazards well enough. Make those PCs wish they had taken the Endurance feat! Make 'em wear winter clothes in the cold! Make 'em cast endure elements! Rarr!

Bwwwwaaaahhh-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! :D

Yeah, if you're trekking around the desert, you'd better hope you're the dexterity type fighter, or with armor that has the Calling dweomer. Otherwise you're in a spot of trouble, eh?

But really, that 110 degrees Farenheit isn't so bad... after all, it's only dry heat. :) Just wait till the swamp environ book "South Carolina" comes out and the temp stays at a lovely 85 degrees, with 95% humidity! Can't wait for PrCs like, Porch Sitter, Cantankerous Old Coot, Good 'ol Boy, and Bootlegger to finally hit my gaming table! Sweet!

You made me remember this. Twitch. When I'm finished laughing I'm going to have to kill you.
