As of right now, I'm playing Iisha Naashanam Rogue Female Githyanki Illithid Slayer. A 10th level slayer and 7th level Psychic Warrior.

The character has been created.

Varn looks great! What does Underworld Stride do for me?

How are the Hide & MS calculated? 21 ranks + 5 dex + 2 stealthy + ???

No melee weapon? Can I choose one?

I also feel like Improved Precise Shot is a must have at this level. I know she gets it later but *now* is better since it will allow her to avoid soft cover bonuses when her allies engage the enemy.

Underworld Stride - Well, I figured, "What good does Woodland Stride do a Drow?" So, think Woodland Stride, only Underground. basically, travel through webs and such without impedement.

Melee Weapon - She don't need one, but knock yerself out. :) When I created her, she's the Drow equivalent of Phaidon, streamlined to fight Illithids. :) I'll just make ya up one tonight...

Hide/Move Silently - Her Greater Silent and Greater Shadow armor gives her +15 to both Hide and Move Silently. That's 21 Ranks + 5 Dex + 2 Stealthy +15 Armor (43 total).

Imp. Precise Shot - Well, if you wanna do that, go ahead. I didn't choose it because she's going to get it later on. Seemed silly to waste a feat. Plus, she's got Shot on the Run, so she can just move to negate the cover and shoot.

Changes - Here's some stuff I found out about late last night. I'll edit the HTML file tonight. Replace Stealthy with Deadeye Shot. This feat allows her to add her dexterity modifier to damage with ranged weapons. Also, she got some gloves of dexterity +6 in some treasure. Those won't help her any on her skills (because her armor is Max Dex +5), but it should improve damage +3 (using Deadeye Shot) and her Initiative and Reflex saves.

Does anyone have dragon magazine #100? This issue is dedicated to Gith's, so I'd like to read it to familiarize myself with this culture. I've already read the Monster manual 3.5 and XPH entries.

Not at all! the only thing the Maximum Dex Bonus affects is the Armor Class. From the SRD:
Maximum Dex Bonus: This number is the maximum Dexterity bonus to AC that this type of armor allows
Anything else dex related (to hit, init, skills, etc) are all boosted by the gloves.

Oh... Cool! Well...nevermind then. :p

Results

For those who weren't there to witness the fiasco, here's a little update.

Basically, the PCs created by myself, Gaspar, Bob, OG, and Fred ripped through the NPCs created by myself and Vince.

The Illithid slayers were true to their name and slew any Illithid or Illithid-kin that stepped in front of them. The Illithids were no match for them, and neither were the Celestial Buelette nor the Half-Dragon. The only things that challenged them were the Black Dragons and that's because Varn couldn't dish out 160+ points of damage with 4 arrows on them. ;)

By the end of the session, we were chanting "Death to high level DND, long live Conan RPG!". Funny thing is...I was agreeing with everyone. :p

Had we been a party of "normal" adventurers, it might have been more fun.

It's fair to note that Varn perished in the adventure and Khren was badly hurt -- death, however, was swift for anyone who ended up a target for more than a couple rounds. (wasn't Iisha in rather dire circumstance, being grappled by the Black Dragon?)

Overall, I think we learned that high level *combat* in D&D lacks the excitement that lower level fights tend to have -- especially when so many safety nets are imposed.
