One of my first 3e baddies was a town of evil forest gnomes... those tiny little guys with the pointy hats. I loved them!

But only as baddies. I think they're mostly useless as a PC race.

I'm entirely indifferent to gnomes. The only one I've ever played was a sorcerer, and I did it for the +2 to CON without the -2 to CHA. I can't get inside the head of a gnome and figure out anything interesting to do with them. They're just too kitschy to me.

I'm all for keeping the gnomes safe. My plead goes out to all high level wizards & sorcerers:
Please cast 'Imprisonment' on all gnomes you encounter to keep them safe for all eternity!
