Saying goodbye to dragon and dungeon magazines?

How about a giant thank you card the ENWorlders (or Ennies folks) can present to Paizo at Gencon? Print out the thank yous and glue em on to the card.

Electronic thanks yours vs printed physical product; think about it. The irony should be self-evident. ;)

Not to mention, at this stage, the advertising for a magazine only a couple of months away is probably already paid and allotted...

Advertising is actually one of the last things finalized. It has not yet been alloted.

I'm not advocating for or against this idea (I'm obviously biased and will keep my fool mouth shut on the thread's main purpose). I'm just providing information. :)

A grand, positivity-only thank you to Paizo and farewell to the old magazines sticky thread would probably accomplish the same thing without the danger of the money-holder sneaking off with the money and buying a yacht.

You won't get much of a yacht for the prince of an ad in Dragon. :D

I LOVE the idea for getting them a card. dungeon and dragon are a great product and the people who worked on them deserve to know how much it was appreciated. I cant count the number of times I went to someone's house or they came to mine, and a d&d mag, laying on the coffee table started a discusion that ended with a new campain and more often than not a new friend.

The idea doesn't appeal to me.

That's $2,500 that would be better spent given to a charity, not a for profit magazine.
Would rather see that $2,500 to EnWorld and its ongoing drives.

Or better yet, as Awards for best free pdf product. $1000 - 1st Place; $750 - 2nd Place; $500 - 3rd Place; $200 - 4th Place; and $10 bucks for the 5 Judges.

Would you give money for an Ad

No. It's a total waste to spend money on something that's not going to be around.

Also, the people who I'd want to read such an ad tend to read stuff here, and they do it free. And they respond. Much nicer.

What if out of every $5 raised we give $1 to a charity to be determined?

If you gave the money to me, I'd support it (but not actually give money)... but wasting $4 in order to give $1 to a charity someone else picks? No thanks. I could just give $5 to the charity of my choice, as I do now.

Faster EN World, with more server muscle? That's worth cash. Dragon Magazine Memorial Server? Sure thing.

On the other hand, I would cherish such as issue until it biodegrades from cold dead hands (or my wife throws it away), so I guess it depends on who you ask. :D

I understand this is not for everybody, and for "overhelming response" there is to it, it probably won't happen, but I think I still have to try.
