I was wondering if it would be possible to create something like a scabard of Holding. You place the weapon into the scabard, which is only 1" wide, and the whole blade is stored in an extra dimensional space. I know with bags of holding you have to be careful not to rupture it with something sharp like a weapon. But do you think it is possible? Basically I want my guy to walk around with what looks like an empty handle on his hip. Is it possible? If it is, how much do you think it would cost? I only want it to weigh, like 5 lbs and can carry up to maybe 75 lbs.

This item sounds fair and resonable to me, just price it as a Bag of Holding of equivalent capacity. This of course would be a custom item and you would need DM approval to use it. But it sounds ok to me. Alternatively you could take a Bag of Holding stick scabard in it and attach the bag to the top of the scabard and that would do much the same thing as the item you wanted.

Viable idea, as I think it've seen a picture one of these things around here somewhere. Just imagine a Greatsword sticking out of a sheath made for a dagger. There's more hilt than there is blade! Rather amusing to look at, and no one expects you to wing a 6 foot blade out of it, either. Just add the Quickdraw feat to that... <drools>
