Serpent Amphora modeule three question...

The third module in the Serpent Amphora series appears to be missing the stat blocks for the cultists building the Wickerman. What would you recommend?

Here's an old beef.

In the Seas of Blood book, there is a map showing the relative positions of Termana and Ghelspad. Unfortunately, because of the scale, the distance would be something like 17000 miles between the two. What is the simplest way to correct this?

Was there ever a Scarn worldmap produced?

What are the best books to start with the Scarred Lands?
What are, in your opinion, the best books of the Scarred Lands, hands down?

Hussar,

No there is no world map. I honestly think it was a mistake but it also might be accurate in terms of a "spacial" reason since this is the Blood Sea we are talking about. Think of it like the Bermuda Triangle, a place where time and space can be distorted. That's my in game explanation. Out of game it got messed up. Simple way to correct it, take off a zero. :p

Od,

Best books to start with: Divine and the Defeated, SLCS: Ghelpsad, SLCS: Termana, Player's Guides (all of them) Hornsaw, Hollowfaust, Shelzar, and Blood Bayou.

The only real stinker of the bunch is Penumbral Pentagon. They really screwed the pooch on that one.

Hands down: Divine and the Defeated, SLCS: Ghelspad, Player's Guide, Hollowfaust and Hornsaw. Great, great books.

Nightfall, as one who has no idea what, precisely, the Scarred Lands are (:o), could you explain that a bit, and tell me if it's availiable at my FLGS?

*sorry for the noobishness*

Noobie/newbie-ishness is welcome.

Scarred Lands is the setting for much of what I consider great about 3rd edition (both 3.0 and 3.5). It takes the various classes, races, and design ideas and mashes them into a kind of Greco-Romanesque world with medeveal(sp) themes. It can be considered by some as a low magic or medium magic world. (I prefer the low magic item, high magic idea myself)

Here's how I'd give it as an introduction:

To understand Scarn today, or rather as it is known now, the Scarred Lands, one must look to the past. For it that distant time when world was first new and fresh, there were the creators of the world, the shapers, the Titans. These beings, made of both spirit, elements, and power, forged and shaped the world of Scarn to their whims. Uncaring, unchanging, these creatures of the world, some of fire, some of air, many of various forms of life, played with the non-sentient life of Scarn as their own personal playground. It wasn't until Gormoth, the Life Giver, decided to try something new, that changes started to be made. Gormoth was the first to imbue life with sentience, and thus came the Viren, soon to be known by many as the Abandoned. The titans marveled at Gormoth's brillance, even though he wouldn't share this secret. It was then, Mormo, his on again, off again lover, decided to use her seductive wiles on him. She then poisoned him and promised if he revealed the secrets of his creations, would she give him the antidote. She of course lied and processed to make the first of her own creations, the Assathi. She spread the knowledge to others, who also created various creatures through their own will, or in some cases, by accident. It wasn't until Gormoth survived this poisoning that he found himself behind the rest. In the meantime, the need to create new life with sentience grew, and with it, the hubris of the titans. For they believed, while not gathering the power gods gained through worship, their followers meant enough to send against each other, or to test them in some way. This meant these races were little more than slaves to the whims of the Titans. It wasn't until the titans mated together, did even more change come. For with that pairing, came the first God, the God of slaughter, bloodlust, disasters, destruction, and disease. The first one, the fearsome, and some claim insane, Vangal, the Ravager. His birth was caused by Lethene, Dame of Storms, Lady of Chaos, mating with two other titans, Thulkas, the Father of Fire, and Chern, the Scourge, the Lord of Plagues. Vangal's might and fierceness astonished many, but even more so were his powers, nearly as mighty as their own. For he made the first demons, created of the souls of the slain, His power seem to grow even mightier when joined with the hosts of mortals that bathed in blood alongside him. Then, in a fit of rage, the titan Kadum, the Mountainshaker, the Father of Monsters, who felt slighted by Vangal's power, decided to have a child of his own. Thus with Denev, Corean, the First Knight, the Lord of Wisdom, Father of Craftsmens, was born. To "protect and defend, that which Vangal wishes to toss down. What he breaks, Corean will mend. What Vangal inspires by fear, he will lead by example." Soon came others, Hedrada the Lawgiver; the twins of Day and Night, Belsameth, the Slayer, Lady of the Moon, and her sister Madriel, the First Angel, the Lady of Peace; Chardun, the Slaver, the Overload, only child of Mormo and Gormoth; Tanil, the Lady of the Hunt; and the Chaos Born, the Trickster, Enkili. While other gods were born after them, these were the most powerful, and considered the most worthy of worship. Indeed it was because of worship the world did suffer. For as mighty as the gods were, they still needed mankind and its kin for the power worship and belief offered them. The Titans needed none of it. Thus after a short time, the Divine War came, as God fought Titan, in a battle where time lost all meaning, the sun turned to ashes, and the stars in the skies fell. Rivers of blood and death nearly drowned the living. But slowly, surely, with each Titan that fell, the War grew shorter. Until only the Gods and one lone titan, Denev, the Earth Mother remained. But though their leaders were gone, many of those that supported the titans still remain. That along with horrible scars on the geography of the world of Scarn, magical backlashes, and terrible magics that still restonate, remain. But even with their defeat, the Titans lived on. For who can destroy a whirlwind? It merely disperses until it forms again. Thus time is on the side of the Titans...or is it? For even though not gone from this world, the Gods, the 8 Victors still remain...

That's is the Scarred Lands. Hope that was helpful.

Neat, neat, neat stuff Ni - I am really liking the sound of that. Thanks for typing that all up and givin' me the lowdown on it.

So, could I get this through my FLGS, or not? :D

Yeah and cheap too. :) WW has been fire selling a lot of Scarred Lands material since they stopped supporting it. You can get through your FLGS or WW.com very cheap.
