Does anybody know when some of the "holes" ine the regional maps ie: provencial boundries, are due to come out?

Also does anybody have or produce a wall map of the Scarred Lands -overview map, Country of darakeen map? I would REALLY like to swap out the FR maps I have up now.

If I knew any of this San, I would have told you already. :) My advice, just sort of take the present map of Darakenee and use approximate boundary lines. Example, West Mohrland and East Morhland, I'd go just past the first mountain where Llangwyr is, and stop about an inch short into the green part for the border between the two. Make West a kind of irregular square/circle, and just stick to the mountains and the border river until you get to where the border river (keep the border river as your boundary for East), meets with the Fouled Forest bend. That's probably as far as you'd need to go. Trumland I'd make into a kind circular domain. Wexland, keep the sea as it's border and don't go beyond the green parts for more than inch.

I hope that's helpful.

scarred lands

I knew I could count on you assistance nightfall, I was looking at the map yesterday and I see one major provincial problem. Melaid (dara province) is going to be dispropottionally huge. it's basically the only one not all crammed togather. mainly I posted this to see if anyone of Scarns founders had any help/or info and cause the other thread has started to cover a lot of ground. IT'S ALIVE, not that that's a problem.

Yeah it will be much larger, but that probably means more than few large towns/small cities as well in that province. I also believe it's one of the more arable lands there. Plus home to other War Colleges.

That makes sence, I hadn't considered putting most of the larger comunities there. That will work. The principal I have been operating under is roughly 10% of the population is in the Military and I have a unit stationed in each town of 1000 or in an area with several smaller towns/villages with 1000 inhabitants. This would place roughly 1/2 the troops in the southwest of Darakeen which also is IMO the most threatened area.

Yep with the Fouled Forest there (course not as bad as the Spires of Gaurak) and the Ukrudan Desert to the south, it would make more sense to have the military there. I imagine most are drawn there because of the fertile and the chance to test their fighting prowess. 10% is probably about right, though you could lower it or raise depending on the lands. (After all I doubt the Vault has that many standing troops.)

teh only problem with raising/lowering it is that they use the unit system. the smallest unit is 100 and that is a big drain on the local resourses of a village!

The best that I came up with was to have them winter in one spot and move around to protect the west and south. With the larger cities having a permenant garason as well as patrols.

I know most folk tend to be illeterate in the SL but what did you think of my idea of using traveling papers for obvious foreigners?
I figure that the officers in the military are gonna have to read to coodinate troop movements, right?

That would probably be best. Certainly while not all the people can read, I'm sure the military brass has them study Leaden. It's a common language after all.

I also think moving the troops around makes sense. After all, not all the mercenary companies stay put in the colleges.

scaeerd lands

mercenary companies - I haven't even gotten into them yet. Although . . . here's a thought, use the smaller companies of 20-50 to guard the smaller hamlets and villages. station them in 1 spot for 1 four month season then swap them with another company of simmilar size. this way no one gets too complacient.
Station the larger companies closer to the fouled forrest and the vault, mid-sized companies to help protect the coastal towns and larger boarder towns. . . . I like this idea.

Hey what ever works for you, San. Certainly sounds right to me. It's a sensible approach as well as one that the Darakenee military might support SINCE it would allow their troops access to various locales and training.

(btw I wouldn't worry that heavily on the Fouled Forest. While it's slightly titanspawn infested, it's not what you called the Woods of Death that the Hornsaw are. :) )
